iirc Ferrari have launched an "A" spec revision of their cars for the last few years that has been replaced with "B" spec evolution by the 1st race.

Has anyone noticed that the F10 looks 90% similar to the F60 preseason.. that is before the F60 met with KERS reliability problems.. any images to confirm?

F60 had a very slim back end during its launch reducing its drag coeff.. but it expanded as the cooling needs increased!

That explains the positioning of the exhaust relative to the engine. Sounds like they redesigned the exhaust for fuel economy.

Remember, they have also repositioned the oil tank and shrunk their gearbox, IMO these will be key factors with which Ferrari will either come out on top of falter.

I would think this is almost certainly cooling for electronics, too far forward and too small for diffuser purpose

iirc Ferrari have launched an "A" spec revision of their cars for the last few years that has been replaced with "B" spec evolution by the 1st race.

I hope it will because, to me, this car looks slow. It's too similar to the previous year to be worth anything in speed. It's too conservative a design at the moment.

I wouldn't be surprised, and the rumours have circulated for a little while now.

They've had a massive amount of work to do. They've accepted their 2009 approach was junk so they've had to play extreme catch-up by trying to design a decent car for many of the 2009 regulations that they should have had to start off with, learning from their mistakes, all whilst playing catch-up to the teams that improved or got it right and adjusting slightly for 2010 regulations........and whilst doing no testing and having not used their 2009 car as a testbed during the season.

EDIT: On top of that they also clearly had thirst problems with the engine last season, and it was obvious at Spa, which is not going to be good with no refuelling.

If they're in winning shape with that around their neck then I take my hat off to them.

Looks like Ferrari are complaining again about possible rule interpretations before even seeing the other designs. Could this be the source of the b-spec speculation?

Yep, Ferrari seem to be the first ones complaining, and the article is right that it could all blow up again. Depending on how far teams have gone it could blow up terribly. However, the article does have Ferrari's situation ass-backwards:

"Given Ferrari’s significant head start on the 2010 challenger, the Italian team may be planning a more radical F10b version of the car if it becomes clear that rules can be pushed beyond where Ferrari chose to originally draw the line on their F10 design."

They actually don't have a head-start with 2010 because the purpose of starting early in 2009 was to get an interpretation of the 2009 regulations and to have something approaching the competitive 2009 car they should have had to start with. Meanwhile, other teams have moved on significantly and Ferrari are only really now catching up with 2009 thinking.

[One and Only]

F10 at presentation had a lot of F60 parts fitted. Front and rear wing, deflectors, possibly engine cover. Yet DDD wasn't F60's which means it couldn't fit on F10 (probably bigger and fully integrated with rest of the car). They are hiding some things as long as they can. It is kinda silly, but they are Ferrari.
I think we shall see much different F10 in Bahrain, and even on Monday we shall see new wings.
IMO this car won't shine from the start but somehow it seems to me that it has a lot of development potential. It will be a good car.

p.s. Everybody forgets one thing. The most important thing on these cars won't be seen until first race and that is tire usage. With refueling ban tires management is crucial. A car gentle to tires with smart driver such as MS or FA could even go for one pitstop less than competitors.
