Makes sense, of course only the victims get hit. If you are not hit, you are not victimized.

I see this post talking about time healing all wounds, and something happening 80 years ago is not the same impact wise as something from 5 years ago.
Incredibly naive (and insentive) post to say the least. Depends on the something doesnt it? Perhaps you need to think again who the victims are

I am not here to lessen or trivialize anything, but the "something" does not matter. "Something" happening recently will always be fresher on the minds than "something" in the distant past. There will be more people alive from a recent event to be effected and share stories then there will be from one in the distant past.

Everyone talks about Mt St Helens, but lets not forget the people of Pompei, even though time and history has faded the memory of the tragedy.

My grandfather was a bomber pilot for the RAF and was a big help to liberating these very people. I don't find wars trivial, and maybe jumping on me for the my perceived misuse of the word "something" was a bit harsh :|

Italian media report that Campos Meta has approached Maria De Villota for a drive.

Image

It seems a very similar move to the one tried by Brabham when they signed Giovanna Amati, desperately trying to lure some sponsors by the attraction of a woman driver. Campos Grand Prix has done a F3 test only with female drivers in the 2007/2008 off-season.

Adrian Campos considered then that the more impressive drivers at the test were Natacha Gachnang and Lucie Panackova, while De Villota shone by her experience.

Looks like a cross between the MP4-24 and the BGP001, should make for an interesting car providing they make the grid and thats not a bullshit image.

I would find Formula One spicier if, from that test, they had invited Miss Panackova or Miss Jorda (although we already know that Carmen isn't that fast...).

This team is really making me uneasy about expecting them in Bahrain. Although it makes the StefanGP preparations understandable.

That's what the pit girls are for. We don't need a European Danica Patrick to create awareness and along with it bring mediocrity, IMO. Leave the racing for the men for the time being, and if there's a super talented woman that has proven herself in the best of the feeder series then she's welcome, otherwise stay away.

That high standard would require a woman driver to be better than, let's say, Pedro De La Rosa or Kobayashi...

As long as she's as competent as some of the male drivers, I don't see why a woman can't be in F1. There are plenty of talented woman drivers (Panackova seems to be a good example) out there and most seem to face plenty of trouble getting in competitive machinery, results in motorsport must always be analysed in perspective with the level of support and the team where people are able to find a drive...

I do believe that motorsport should also be promoted as one of the few sports where there's no sexual discrimination and already has the tradition of having female stars (Mouton, Kleinschmidt, Lella Lombardi...).

Hear, hear. Don't forget Kay Petre.

Yeah, it's about time that F1 dropped the Anchorman impression. It's an embarrassment to the european racing establishment that there are no woman in european top flight racing (by which I mean F1, of course).

Risking sounding gender biased, if a girl was at least as naturally quick as the 'average' F1 driver, and is in good shape, she typically will weigh 20-50 pounds less. Danica has an advantage of at least 5 laps of fuel in weight.

The weight of a pair of legs that they are missing should give any quick woman an advantage. Either there are not enough women in motorsport and we haven't found a quick one yet or guys are naturally quicker.
