I see this post talking about time healing all wounds, and something happening 80 years ago is not the same impact wise as something from 5 years ago.
I am not here to lessen or trivialize anything, but the "something" does not matter. "Something" happening recently will always be fresher on the minds than "something" in the distant past. There will be more people alive from a recent event to be effected and share stories then there will be from one in the distant past.
Everyone talks about Mt St Helens, but lets not forget the people of Pompei, even though time and history has faded the memory of the tragedy.
My grandfather was a bomber pilot for the RAF and was a big help to liberating these very people. I don't find wars trivial, and maybe jumping on me for the my perceived misuse of the word "something" was a bit harsh
