Can FOM do that? I mean test sessions are not FIA sanctioned and in theory I believe do not fall under the same circumstances as a race.

I don't think they mainly run with low fuel loads, it's just that they end up running their fastest laps when the loads gets light. They absolutely have to run heavy loads otherwise they will be the worst prepared team on the grid.

Or are you basing this off of actual stint/session information? Can I have a link to that if anyone knows of it?

What's the normal stint length during a test? 10-12 laps? 15-20?

My thoughs on Sauber isn't based on facts though, should have added 'me thinks' in that sentence. Why I think they mostly run quite light is because they're still desperately looking for sponsors. More or less the same like Brawn last year but still. I also believe that you can tell when a car is light on fuel compared to a heavy loaded car by how agile the car behaves.
Here's some footage of yesterday's test

I'm also still looking for laptimes of all stints like we could find last year. Most stints so far were between 10 and 25 laps.

We heard a lot of comments like that last year about Brawn. Then they turned up in Melbourne and showed the same pace in quali and then in the race. There were also people saying McLaren & Ferrari were deliberately sand bagging last winter

Agreed, no one has time to waste sandbagging these days imo - that said, im sure the testing programs differ quite wildly atm and we dont know who is really doing what.

A compact table from Autosport. I wasn't aware that Schumi's time was worse than Kubica. Ross must see to it that the mods are quickly applied and work. I hope the switch to the final aero for Barcelona will be another big step.

How impressive has reliability been this first pre-season test!!

Almost 2000 laps, close to 11,000km's covered in 3 days.. and what was it, only 2 red flags?

Absolutely amazing stuff from the teams for the first test of the new cars! =D>

rightly said... the relaibility has been awesome this year...

also regarding the lap times... i thought shumi was the fastest during the last test session...

but nothin can be concluded with the current results.. still redbull have to unveil their car...

god knows how fast they are going to be..

Right. I think I was one of the few who believed right away how fast Brawn GP was and that Mclaren and Ferrari were struggling.

the red flags appeared to be caused by the car running out of fuel right at the end of the day ....looked to me like they were correlating the read out with when the car ACTUALLY ran out ...naughty perhaps , but would make sense

btw , the rest of the tests are thursday to sunday
