Red Bull RB6

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I like the looks but the 100,000 $ question is: How did they do the rear end and the diffusor. It will take some time for the pics to filter through.

Im just astounded by the packaging. where does the extra fuel go.... the rear end looks so small. it still looks like 2009 proportions. i was very sceptical of those rendered photos, i actually beleived they where BS, but its true. this car is a masterclass in packaging.

What is that thing sticking up just in front of the rear wheels? Has that anything to do with the suspension- I suppose it would have to be to get around the bodywork radius rule.

And the sidepods have a more 'classic' shape

That's Christian Horner - he's not subject to the bodywork radius rule so all is well.

That's the upper suspension's triangle.

 Great. So it follows that the dome sticking out of the cockpit is the Newey Radar right!

All the guys going on about packing, what engine are they running? That's right the Renault. The wheel base on this car was already long, so the packing isn't that amazing - and I think the paint job is tricking you quite alot.

There's nothing amazing here really, minor tweaks here and there. Please stop with the WOWs, the Force India was more interesting than this.

The only think I'm interested in is that diffuser, let's see it!

It seems that Renault customise exhaust manifold for RedBull -- exhausts are placed differently than on Renault itself.

It looks like the exhaust routes right under the upper rear wishbone. Should be interesting. This car might not be the revolution that the last one was, thus not really as "interesting," but it continues a line: the last four Red Bull cars have been gorgeous. I'm drinking a 12oz can right now in celebration.

The side pods seem extremely high compared to some of the cars.

Actually, RB6 reminds me F10 in packaging philosophy - move as much stuff as you an towards the front of sidepods and have as little as possible towards the rear. Very different to Mp4-25 where they chose to have a very compact sidepod together with rather bulgy area in the rear of airbox.
