I'm 80km away at work in Gibraltar, and I can see the road that goes up past Los Barrios to Jerez. As you can imagine I'm gutted about not being there. The weather is holding out here at the moment, although based on the on-off showers we've had over the last few days I doubt the track will be anything but green all week. Hopefully the rain stays away.

Apparently it's raining, so all the cars are in the pits.

Rain brings peace to the circuit
09:55 - Just peace and quiet at the Circuito de Jerez. All drivers have gone inside. The rain falls down on the track, fans pulling their massive umbrellas and wait until the cars go out again.

Never seen that before. The McLaren boys are bringing the wind-tunnel to the track.

Apparently there are tyre wear sensors all over the car.

Maybe their radical design isn't quite doing what it's supposed to?

Look under the side pod, there's another camera attached just after the end of the barge board. It's all for monitoring tyre usage and behavior.

If the car was working well, why would they bother with this kind of equipment?

PS. Genuine question, im not trolling.

It could just be that they're really doing their homework. Maybe looking at the amount of flex in the sidewalls? Maybe something else. Who knows, but now is the time to do it.

We can argue on that until first few races when we'd see their true form.
What you're asking is reasonable, although there probably can't be an excess of info, especially with test limits. Last year's trouble forced them to be creative in gathering info, that may yield an edge over a competition.
Or they are indeed in trouble again.
