How can you know how fast a car can go if you don't push it? Are you saying the teams sand bag on purpose and hold say erm... 6 tenths (nice number) in the bag which they know they can do? Mark Webber has given an upbeat verdict on Red Bull’s new car after its first two days of running at Jerez.
The Australian gave the RB6 its track debut on Wednesday and had his first opportunity to evaluate the car in dry conditions on Thursday, completing 100 laps.
Although he didn’t set any attention-grabbing lap times, Webber is convinced Adrian Newey’s latest creation will stand Red Bull in good stead this season as it attempts to improve on its runner-up finish in last year’s championship.
“It’s been a very productive two days,” he said.
“We’ve had a few little niggles here and there with reliability, but despite that we’ve managed to complete quite a few laps with the new car.
“We’ve had one wet and one dry day and learned a lot on both.
“We’ve still got quite a bit of testing to go before we get to Bahrain, which we’re going to need to continue to understand the car and keep finding performance.
“But I’d say we’re off to a pretty solid start and we’ve got a great base to build on.”
Given the extreme limits of fuel loads everyone can be running that measure in seconds not tenths, the fact that McLaren are off trying to find.....something and teams like Red Bull have only just started doing installation laps then yes. It depends under what circumstances. Fast with 70 kilos of fuel or fast with 20? You're trying to compare relatively where we have no idea if things actually are relative right now.Let's look at things in more simple terms... the whole idea of a racing car is for it to go fast right? So when you test it... you'd test it goes fast... no?
It would be nice to actually bring some reason to that debate every once in a while.And to the rest of you... so your saying anyone who is going to post anything that is in anyway negative should just leave? ...hopes and dreams don't win races.
