This pic was from earlier on this thread. I notice that the tires have uneven wear and that the left rear tire's rubber has started ti migrate while the right side is intact. Obviously a clockwise circuit but my question is... does this affect performance adversely or is it tolerable. Is it like blistering or graining?

That looks like simple graining to me, but the rotation of the tires blurs the shot a bit, and makes it look more linear.

@ Crabs. See this pic. Pretty sure I can see a white heat resistant panel through the fins, extending out to the exhaust opening.
Gills are illegal. The sidepod in the background doesn't seem to have them. Could be they're just putting these in front of the garage to show off the sponsors.

The minimum radius rule comes into play on all parts of the car except>>

1. Few 30 odd cms in front of the driver and also behind the driver ( this is allowed so that the sidepod exit is legal and also the airbox on top the head becomes legal )

2. The front wing (except the middle part)

3. The rear wing

4. And an opening of 25 cm square is allowed for the exit of exhaust

The BMW cuts comes in this area..so does many teams last year

You also see openings in the Mclaren , just behind the driver's head

The snorkel also exist coz this rule

All sort of small small aero device can exist coz of this....the mirror mount, the sidepod deflector exist cox of this exception

But ferrari's openings seems to be falling out this area

Maybe the gills are just for Friday, y'know... less stress on the machinery for free practice?

Not a bad call. I thought that the cars had to be 'legal' for the entire weekend. I could be wrong but aren't cars brought in at any point to be randomly inspected/weighed. Didn't that cause people to lose practice time last year?

Gills are illegal in certain areas.

Some people just don't get how regulations are written.
