Re: My F1 car

Post

Hello everyone I am in need of some serious help, I have attempted to contact every F1 team and no one has even bothered replying to me, I am currently in my final year of university and my dissertation is based on studying a current F1 underbody and diffuser then developing them, as I can see by your work you are all very comfortable with these areas of the cars. my question is does anyone have either technical drawings of a F1 underbody and diffuser that has been or is currently in use or a CAD file, A CAD file would be so much more helpful, but I will settle for either lol.

any help would be greatly appreciated. please send anything you can spare to jlogan223@hotmail.com.

sorry i dont have any cad drawings of an actual f1 teams floor/diffuser which is what you need. Try looking at car models made for games like gp4 or rfactor as some of them are quite accurate.

LegendaryM, you should get this car put into a game like rFacot.

After 2 months of work here is my f1 car for 2011. I decided to make a brand new car as the old one had reached the end of its development potential. The new car has a normal, single deck diffuser as ddd's are banned for 2011. I havent been able to add 18" rims on yet.

Image
1 (and 4). A new outer endplate design, designed to make less drag and a greater area of low pressure on its inside.
2. The 2nd cascade element now curves downwards and joins onto the main element. Before I was worried that it would flex too much.
3. The main element now features 3 wings instead of 2, hopefully so the wing is more stable and flow separation will not occur. Also the cross sectional shape of the wings has been changed.
5. The vertical wing mounts now splay outwards to connect directly with the cascade element. The camera housing has been lengthened and put in the central 250mm. It has also been given an angle of attack of 5degrees (the maximum allowed in the rules) to reduce the lift from the central 250mm element.
6. This is the opening for the f-duct control. My interpretation of the f-duct uses a fludic valve so that when the drive blocks the hole with his knee, air flows
and directs the air to the gearbox for cooling, stalling the rear wing.
7. As the front tyres are smaller (in diameter as well as width - see an article on racecar engineering) I have been able to extend the wheel fairing to halfway around the wheel.
8. The chassis has a very aggressive V - nose to allow the suspension to pick up at very near to a single mounting point.

1. The car features inboard mirrors, as now required by the rules
2. The car has very large and aggressive bargeboards, with a serrated edge.
3. The size of the sidepod inlets have been reduced
4. The car is designed to fit a fuel tank with the capacity of around 230l.
5. The upper channel of the airbox either directs air to the gearbox or to a blown slot in the rear wing, depending on the drivers knee (if he blocks the hole, air flows down the tube and directs air to the gearbox, stalling the rear wing)

1. The sidepods are very low and tight, to ensure a high quality flow of air to the lower rear wing element.
2. The exhaust doesn't yet have any surrounding shark gills for cooling.
3. The shark fin is open at the back to aid cooling. It also shrouds the f-duct.

Image
1. The upper rear wing element features a blown slit witch takes air from the airbox.
2. The rear wing is supported by a single central mount. I would prefer to have used a swan neck style mount but this would have interfered with the f-duct. Also it was not possible to use not central support and transmit the rear wing load through the beam wing, as it had to be hollow
3. The beam wing also has a slit. This is fed through a 3 holes, one in the central 150mm and two on the outer edges of the endplates. This is similar to saubers launch rear wing, though not identical. This allows the beam wing to run at a higher angle of attack.
4. The diffuser is similar to the RB5's single deck diffuser, however it also has a toyota style v shape in the central 150mm.
5. The car has rear wheel "covers" similar to the f10

Very impressive LegendaryM. Is the chassis effectivley a single keel with that v-shaped tub?? So the f-duct blows on the underside of the flap yeah?

Its very close to a single keel but not quite, and yes the f-duct blows out here:

you can see the small slit on the other picture

very nice job!

But I am of the opinion that f-duct system is going to be banned in 2011 like for example special rims in 2010. Generally speaking, this is a masterpiece!

Maybe the nose is too aggressive (I mean thin V- shape) but it requires some CFD tests to find the best shape.

Could you post another picture with your diffuser?

But generally, it is awesome! =D> =D> =D>
