So even though we are supposed to have low fuel qualifying, the rule makers have effectively ruined it with the parc fermé rules and the tyre rules – as the drivers are not able to push the cars as fast as they could do. A shame that this situation has arisen as there is nothing better than a full on battle to see who can get the absolute fastest lap time. Still, at least this means there is some uncertainty over who is fastest and who will make the best of it in tomorrow’s race.
It wont be the same situation on all races. There will be races where the tire wear wont be so high. Even it could be a situation where it's best to start with a littlebit worn tires, and not on new tires, as we seen before. On the other hand, probably it'll happen not so often, because of heavy cars on start of the race, but you can't rule out this scenario.
I think maybe the show would be much better if the rules enable maybe 3-4 sets of qualifying tires/car, which you have to use during qualifying, and only there, and race sets which you can use only in race/free practice to find out which is the best combiantion for the car.
