The car isn't even racing it's just trying to make it to the finish line, which it won't. Just because you have a famous last name doesn't impart you automatically with skills, just look at Piquet.

With steel breaks it's no wonder they lose damn near 3 seconds in the first sector alone. This is however, the first race, but regardless I doubt that HRT, Lotus, or Virgin will make it within 3 seconds of the leader's pace even by the end of the season.

Even with Alguesauri's ode to D1 in qualifying he was still 3 seconds faster than Glock

I am completely tired reading about what RedBull can do in the MP4-25 thread...

Seems that you forget that other teams was top form at testing as well as McLaren's momentum from last year too.McLaren-Ferrari-Mercedes...All of them showed speed and solid race pace. You try to convince us that the RB6 is the absolute super car, like the Delorean from "Back in the future" and others are like running with chariots... [-X [-X Plus to win a race you have to finish first and if i was in RedBull that little thing would make me cautious. :!:

Anybody else hearing reports of thr renault and mclaren diffusers being deemed illegal after this race? Seems they are exploitig a loophole with the hole for the starter. Not sure if this effects any other teams. I'll try to find a link.

I'd say that Mercedes is indeed effected. Based ont he pictures I can find, McLaren are the most obvious in exploiting the loophole. Merc and Renault are about the same. Of the front runners, it looks like RedBull are fine, and Ferrari have a different concept of accessing the starter all together, so they will probably be O.K. also.

It looks like it isn't a massive loophole anyway, so I'd be suprised if this really has any massive effect on performance. Perhaps with McLaren as their access hole looks to span the entire 150mm permitted area.

Oh? And do you know what all the advantages of carbon brakes truly are?

Speed TV wrote:F1: FIA Tells McLaren To Scrap Bahrain-Spec Diffuser
The wing on the McLaren MP4-25 isn't the only thing causing a stir...
SPEED Staff / GMM | Posted March 13, 2010

Not only is the new wing on the MP4-25 causing controversy the FIA has informed the team not to show up at the next race sporting the same double diffiuser.
Lost in the din of the new 'knee-gate' saga, another technical controversy involving McLaren's 2010 car has escaped the attention of the media.

The British team has been told by the FIA that the diffuser it is using this weekend in Bahrain may not be fitted to the MP4-25 in Melbourne in two weeks.

While the knee-activated air inlet system has been slammed by angry rivals and attracted widespread press coverage after clearance by the FIA, the car's Sakhir-spec double diffuser was less favorably looked upon by inspectors.

Germany's Auto Motor und Sport said McLaren aerodynamically exploited the hole for the external engine starter, making it much bigger than necessary and thereby gaining another diffuser level.

After the enormous diffuser controversy of 2009, the saga has been kept quiet by McLaren simply agreeing to scrap the design after the checkered flag waves in Bahrain on Sunday.
That is probably going to slow the car down a bit.

^^ not in Bahrain it won't.

Although.. with the FIA already admitting the design is not within the rules, what would happen if a rival team were to protest the Bahraini scrutineer's decision of passing the McLaren, Renault & Mercedes?

as for the vent, go to the mp4 25 thread.

for massa its the same as last year, there is an 8 engine allocation for the season, as long as he doesnt exceed his yearly allocation of engines he is not penalised

A shame that this situation has arisen as there is nothing better than a full on battle to see who can get the absolute fastest lap time. Still, at least this means there is some uncertainty over who is fastest and who will make the best of it in tomorrow’s race.
It wont be the same situation on all races. There will be races where the tire wear wont be so high. Even it could be a situation where it's best to start with a littlebit worn tires, and not on new tires, as we seen before. On the other hand, probably it'll happen not so often, because of heavy cars on start of the race, but you can't rule out this scenario.
I think maybe the show would be much better if the rules enable maybe 3-4 sets of qualifying tires/car, which you have to use during qualifying, and only there, and race sets which you can use only in race/free practice to find out which is the best combiantion for the car.
