Just for the record they both ended up using the open ended front wing.djos wrote:Which ever one it was the RB6 is now 8/10ths of a second faster than any one else! =D>BreezyRacer wrote:So which front wing will they run? The open ended one or the boxed one?
They could have locked out the front row on the Hard tires they where so fast!
Go Webbo!!!!
1-the whole car was not reliable (mp4-20)Morteza AMG wrote:+1jason.parker.86 wrote:Scary to think how much quicker they would have been with the Mercedes Power Plant!
I was just about to say that
Mercedes engine has been the most reliable one so far(since 2007 I think).RB6 reminds me of my favorite F1 car MP4-20 which was also designed by Newey but lost both championships due to that year's Mercedes engine
I don't buy that. I just don't see how the Mercedes engine is any more powerful or driveable than the Renault has turned out to be in either the hands of Red Bull or the Renault team themselves. Christian Horner gave a figure of thirty or forty horsepower that he figures they are short releative to Mercedes powered cars, which is absolute nonsense. Only a concerted development programme could give that kind of performance advantage which homologation just won't give them. I mean, with those figures we're starting to get into the power discrepancy that there was between the Renault V10 and the Ford V8 early in the 90s. It's rubbish.Morteza AMG wrote:+1jason.parker.86 wrote:Scary to think how much quicker they would have been with the Mercedes Power Plant!

Contrary to popular belief, the MP4-20 did not lose championships purely because it was unreliable. It was because McLaren couldn't get the speed out of the car for the first four or five races, whereupon Alonso and Renault had built a big enough lead. They then had one or two mechanical issues and some Mercedes engine problems. The RB6 is not in that situation because the speed has been there from the first race and they've scored enough points that they're within touching distance of the top of both championships.RB6 reminds me of my favorite F1 car MP4-20 which was also designed by Newey but lost both championships due to that year's Mercedes engine
Thanks mate, I have nothing but to say You're right. That was my idea and I'm not a technician but just a fan. I'm not against Red Bull but I hope they won't lose championship due to any technical problems. Vettel was retired from 3 races last season and lost championship to 11 points! I don't want it to happen again.segedunum wrote:I don't buy that. Sorry guys, I got a little confused. Which one is the "boxed" one?BreezyRacer wrote:So which front wing will they run? The open ended one or the boxed one?
They had some problem in the first 3 fly-away races. One of the issues was problem with generating enough heat in the tires, especially during qualifying.segedunum wrote:Contrary to popular belief, the MP4-20 did not lose championships purely because it was unreliable. Here is a pic from Malaysia:

It seems to to be the same as the one above (http://i1010.photobucket.com/albums/af2 ... 1wri-1.jpg).
Is this the "open" one? Haven't found pics of the boxed one...
