I spotted it in the coverage of FP2. Looked like the alternative black and red of a roulette wheel to me. Alas, didn't get a screen capture.

looks like only Rosberg really made any improvement in FP2, should be an interesting Saturday.

The car also looks good through the slow speed turns.
Kubica looks very fast in Monaco. In FP2 he had absolutely best time on the harder tyres. On super softs he started fast laps when track temperature decreased almost 10 degrees (lack of Sun) and he couldn't improved much his time. Still his bests times on S1 and S2 are from harder compound, and gap to Alonso is 0.288 s. Really impressive.

Speed trap at FP2: 1. Kubica 286 km/h, 2. Petrov 285 km/h, 3. Hamilton 284 km/h
Low DF in R30 or McL F-duct is not effective at this track?

Probably not as effective. What counts is traction and how fast you can accelerate, not what your top speed is. The McLaren's top speed might well be ultimately higher, but they've run out of straight before they can achieve it.

Heres a intresting GP2 to F1 laptime comparison:

1. Pastor Maldonado Rapax 1m20.476s
2. Sergio Perez Barwa Addax 1m20.917s + 0.441s
3. Christian Vietoris Racing Engineering 1m20.999s + 0.523s
4. Dani Clos Racing Engineering 1m21.272s + 0.796s
5. Davide Valsecchi iSport 1m21.531s + 1.055s
6. Giedo van der Garde Barwa Addax 1m21.540s + 1.064s

7. Jules Bianchi ART 1m22.036s + 1.560s
8. Luiz Razia Rapax 1m22.096s + 1.620s
9. Oliver Turvey iSport 1m22.132s + 1.656s
10. Fabio Leimer Ocean 1m22.164s + 1.688s
11. Alberto Valerio Coloni 1m22.165s + 1.689s
12. Jerome D'Ambrosio DAMS 1m22.288s + 1.812s
13. Michael Herck DPR 1m22.327s + 1.851s
14. Johnny Cecotto Trident 1m22.399s + 1.923s
15. Sam Bird ART 1m22.503s + 2.027s
16. Max Chilton Ocean 1m22.576s + 2.100s
17. Ho-Pin Tung DAMS 1m22.578s + 2.102s
18. Giacomo Ricci DPR 1m22.622s + 2.146s
19. Marcus Ericsson Super Nova 1m23.059s + 2.583s
20. Charles Pic Arden 1m23.246s + 2.770s
21. Josef Kral Super Nova 1m23.657s + 3.181s
22. Rodolfo Gonzalez Arden 1m23.907s + 3.431s
23. Adrian Zaugg Trident 1m24.249s + 3.773s
24. Vlado Arabadjiev Coloni 1m24.770s + 4.294s

In FP1 the drivers in red would have been faster that the Hispania cars, but in FP2, the Hispania is only a tenth faster than the GP2/08 cars that are at the sharp end of that grid.

Heres some figures:

Ferarri (Alonso/Massa) = 0.389%
HRT (Senna/Chandhok) = 7.696%
Barwa Addax (Perez/Van Der Garde) = 6.860%
Racing Engineering (Vietoris/Clos) = 6.982
iSport/Rappax (Maldonado/Valsecchi) = 6.686%

Meaning that the Ferarri is looking like the fastest F1 car this weekend so far, the Hispania is 7.6% behind, but effectivly the "three" teams that are in the top of the GP2 timesheets are all closer to F1 pace arround Monaco than the F110 of the Hispania team.

Just some intresting insight id add to this thread!!!

bruno senna actually was slower in fp2. strange. things are not looking good for this kid. Karun is upstaging him big time in my opinion.

I'm a bit confused about the qualifying split that was proposed (but isn't happening). Was the proposal to split only Q1, or to split both the Q1 and Q2 sessions?

I think it was just for Q1 as that's when all 24 cars are out. Q2 isn't that bad.

Im not sure you can read too much into either driver in that car. They are both doing a tough job. Dont know if your accounting for the fact they have also found out that Bruno's car is carrying a problem that needs parts from dallara to fix. Cant find the exact tweet now but here are a couple that give you the idea.

BSenna: Back in MC but REALLY hard work today. Carrying on from Barcelona but we think we know how to fix it now. An evening with the engineers...

KChand: going to be a long day of thinking of solutions tomorrow... @BSenna had a car problem this afternoon as well so the guys will investigate

I don't really see what some of the drivers are complaining about. There have been more than 24 cars on the track in Monaco before and they managed then. Part of the skill at tracks like Monaco in the old (proper) qualifying session of 12 laps over an hour was getting your timing right so you got a relatively clear lap.

I even read somewhere earlier that Button was complaining about the prospect of a wet race this weekend! The cars have gotten safer and easier to drive over the years and F1 drivers managed 20/30 years ago so what on earth is he gurning about?

The more I watch Formula 1 on TV, the more I realize just what garbage their TV crews are in each country and how badly Bernie needs to have actual professionals do the coverage. The angles are all low, give no sense of speed, and are aimed at nothing but the advertisement banners. Makes me want to puke. I hate F1 TV coverage, it's absolute garbage compared to NASCAR even. On top of all that, the onboards end right where they need to start, corners.

Anybody got any fun predictions for what should be a frenzied quali? New teams in Q2? Who will be the established one to go out in Q1?

I'm thinking with we'll have one or both Lotuses in Q2. Trulli train for the last 3rd of the field, some good scraps between the new boys and a couple old heads behind him. Otherwise, Alguersuari isn't looking great, might go out P17 if everything else is normal.

I'm psyched, actually. I know a lot of people have been complaining about the format *cough* Red Bull *cough* but now there's room for a dark horse pole. Kubica perhaps?

I'm looking at Kovalainen on pole and Glock 2nd. Trulli 3rd and Di Grassi 4th. The 2 boys from HRT on a 3rd row lockout
