One big problem JB won't want to contemplate is the restarts after a safety car. The saftey car line is now before the start finish line. This means cars will be right on his tail at the start of the pit straight with at least a 10kph advantage.

Depends. If he is leading then stop them on the back straight, take the parabolica full bananas and full downforce, hopefully timing it right so as not to rear-end the departing safety-car.

But if he's behind someone else then you're right, he'll be in heap big trouble, they'll be going past him two at a time. It'll be like the old days and that Honda he had that always got brutally massacred at restarts.

I have a bad feeling Horner is gonna be using the old "they braked earlier than usual" exuse again. I think the first corner is gonna be a war zone. Could the prime tires last the whole race if there's an early safety car?

2. Other cars cannot follow him closely. That is, the air pressure behind is car is greater.
I don't think 1 gets along with 2 very well=)
And ain't 3 the same as 1?
For 2. I was refering overtaking down a straight. The following cars will have more down-force than usual because of the less turbulent air behind Hamilton's low drag wing, but that won't help them draft him on the straights because they will experience increased drag. It flips over for going through the turns though.

Number 3, I am referring to overtaking as well. Number 1, I was referring to general following through the turns.

Now imagine what a nightmare that will be on full fuel!
We've seen all year that the McLaren mammoth diffuser works best when it rides lower on full fuel

i think hamilton will be in a good position to challenge for a podium finish even without the F-Duct.... the car is fast....

Just laid my money down to the bookies  Alonso for the victory. If I could bet on the 2n and 3rd spots I'd put money on Macca populating 3rd step.

ie: I'm betting for Alonso-Massa 1-2, or McLaren 2-3.

I'm not quite surprised with the Bulls being off the pace, as they are horrible in a straight line. But I didn't quite expect them to be THAT off the pace..

It's Fittipaldi if I'm not mistaken. Turn 1 will be amazing  I don't think anyone will take the runoff as they'd drop right back to the end of the field, as the cars will be too bunched probably for the guy who goes off the road to join in safely.

first of all, webber, alonso, massa etc...are closer to hamiltons wing levels than they are buttons. so really that only applis to jenson.
however, there have been no reports of tyre degredation, and with there not being that much to choose between the prime and options, it really wont play much of a role at all.
Note the following words from Hamilton:

he was sliding everywhere because he was in webbers wake and the mclaren isnt the best in qualy trim either.
and like i sai before, theres not a great difference between the primes and option tires. there wont be that much benefit for running 3-5 laps longer on the soft.
