I think it is a red string. They use it for setup, scarbs can enlighten you on that subject.

Also, that first picture is of RedBull.

Laser maybe for temperature measurement.
Yea could also be a oscillating string.

I think the picture fits more to the RedBull topic, because it obviously is one (pull rod).
Very nice find btw. you can see how the pull rod is attached to the wishbone and not directly to the upright.

I found a real string(nylon string very thin .3mm ) much better.used laser equipment quite a while...the setup anf maintainance was simply too fuzzy the one
advantage you got is nobody can step on the string in the pits...

Webber battling rivals and critics

Vettel has admitted he's felt much more comfortable in the car since new software was installed to enable smoother power delivery through the double diffuser to accelerate out of corners.

It means that Webber has lost the little edge over his team-mate that he'd previously enjoyed when it was more driver-reliant.

Interesting explanation to Vettel's resurgance. One of many software updates seems to have taken away some of Webber's advantage over his team mate. Win some, lose some.
