Apparently Petrovs f-duct malfunctioned and was the blame for the accident.

Alonso's only issue will be if the 1 race Monza engine develops an issue. They are pretty much throwing away the practices engines at this point.

If he can clinch the title this weekend it really doesn't matter if the engines last until Abu Dhabi.

Where does that info come from?
It was indeed strange looking incident.
His back end stepped out much earlier that the brakes are applied.

It would be unfortunate if Alonso's #8 farts in the race.
I know they are running the engines softly to save them, hence the slow times today.

What'll it be Ferrari? low power, long gearing, low stress? with the risk of not reaching q3?
or
Full power, proper gearing, and the chance of winning and ending it here?
No more worries for engines after that.
8)

Alonso must be sweating bullets, putting his complete trust in the mechanics and mysterious engine #8.

lets see what p2 has in store. :)
For Sure!!

Petrov's big crash reportedly due to F-Duct malfunction robbing him of downforce, so he's off the hook for that one

His last engine(s)? Yeah, it will blow. And it's going to blow big time!
This track is basically hills and valleys, that rev needle is going to be bouncing all over the place... It's just a question of which lap in FP3 it's going to grenade on.

I think we saw the kind of pressure that Petrov is under after his crash in P1. It's clear now that it wasn't a driver error that caused it, but immediately after hitting the tyrewall he was shaking his hands in a typical "What the --- have I done?" kind of way. Meanwhile his crew in the garage were laughing at the incident. It all seemed a bit strange. I think he's under a lot of pressure during these last to grands prix, despite of his major sponsorship.

Confirmation on the Petrov issue from renault
Vitaly’s car had an issue with the rear wing causing his spin off the track in PF1. His car should be ready soon to take part in FP2.

He can't actually use that engine until Abu Dhabi because of rules. This was an engine that was replaced after Bahrain and can't be used in anything other than free practice until then.

The other engines he has are all high mileage.
How is that a worry?
Because it shows that their engines are expiring on the button. You add in statistical variances to that and it is a worry.

Vettel can't touch webber on the prime tyre.
Ferrari has the pace, Massa is going pretty well, imagine when Alonso puts in the race engine.
