Am i seeing it correct that there are holes in the main diffuser? An pic from last pic told me an similair thing, but then i thought my mind was playing tricks on me, but ehre it seems pretty clear, also when the diffuser seems to be heat-coated.

Would the heat coating have something to do with the Exhaust blown diffuser?
It looks 2011 spec from what I can see, apart from the upper section which would be inadmissable for 2011.
More could have been done.

How can you say it's 2011 spec when it's clearly a triple deck diffuser?
The diffuser is the same as raced at the last few races, only now with heat resistent coating added to bottom surface.

Long time lurker here, I love the technical side of F1! Just popped in to say that Mr. Kravitz has just confirmed that the diffuser that Mercedes GP was running wasn't 2011 spec, during FP3 this morning.

that diffuser pic looks considerably good...

its wide... and allows for lesser flow separation... looking ahead to mercedes's 2011 campagin

And don't you forget JET, a whole lot more points than Virgin, HRT and Lotus combined, which should prompt those
Stuttgart-suits to turn cartwheels in their dusty meeting rooms from pure xcitement!

+1. Unfortunately by the time the safety car came out, the Mercs were being lapped. So it doesnt look as if all the mods that Merc are "not making" are making much difference.

truth is :not only Merc is treading water in their development....

clearly Mclaren,Force india and virgin struggle to improve taking HRT as the team that effectively has had no real development on the car apart from learning to set it up properly....

funny ...all Merc powered cars seem to be improvement resistant... :?

Good point. I wonder if there is a cross sectional comparison between the Merc, Renault and Ferrari engines. Possibly the Merc has a shape that is less conducive to airflow mods at the bottom, thus making it more difficult to accomodate diffuser mods?

4th is'nt bad, nor is 6th and 7th.

The great F1 powerhouses of Ferrari and Mclaren were no better last year, so I guess the cartwheels in their own boardrooms did the trick?
Red Bull are on a different planet, 0.6-7 seconds a lap quicker than Alonso in the next fastest car. Had the safety car not come out then The RB's would have lapped all bar Alonso.

The Mercedes looked good, why cant people give credit where its due? Or did some think that because its Brazil, Merc would wheel out an RB beater???
