Renault R31

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Scarbs just confirmed on its Twitter feed that the R31's exhaust system is coming out at the front under the sidepods and provided one of its very helpful schema:
Renault #R31: I can confirm the exhaust exits are at the frotn of the sidepods, with an elbow pointing them back http://twitpic.com/3vf0o2

Scarbs has been wrong before, we need a decent photo first.

They can't have few exits. You can find regulations few pages back.

I wish this exhaust layout works according to their predictions.

EDIT: Myurr, you've beet me to it ;)

Im surprised people are still dubious. I love stuff like this...thanks Renault. I bet they will be very careful and we wont see under the bodywork for quite some time, probably Bahrain when they arent allowed to shield garage.

Cant wait!

I more believe than disbelieve at the moment, but still want to see a good picture. The only one so far is of the back of the bargeboard with a reflection making it look like a tube. Now that reflection may be of something interesting, but there's no way we can really tell.

It's a mad design, imagine all the potential for weird issues that they'll have to deal with like roasting the driver, making the cooling radiators less efficient etc due to having a massive heat source running thru insides of the sidepods! #-o
