There's just something about the lacquer/paint finish they've applied to this car that makes it very photogenic. Even from last year. Not much of a technical rambling about the 150 degrees Italia but it seems like a change nonetheless.

You guys notice that the crash structure doubles as an extra "mini" beam wing?
That is why I have been so vocal about mclaren's stubbornness to lift the god damn thing off the crash structure.

1 think about the Ferrari front wing that surprises me is how short it is and far from the front wheels.

The rules are alot tighter on crash structures this year, McLaren's choice will be down to packaging and obviously passing the crash test.

Indeed, it's a very shallow front wing as well. Perhaps designed to pivot like the Red Bull wing, giving a greater angle of attack when it's running at speed?

What do you think the hatch on the center of ferrari front wing is for? (small circle with 6 fixings)

Ballast is often placed in the centre of the wing.

Yeah, still, look at the Ferrari's. They have two downforce producing surfaces in the place where macca has one.

The crash structure itself probably doesn't produce much downforce, it'll be the area they open up under the beam wing.

just looking at the beam wing, the ferrari and suaber are the only teams i looked at (i only looked at mac, merc STR and RB) that have a fully floated beam wing.

which makes me think its the rear suspension mounts that free up this spare space in the rear and enable them to have the fully floated beam wing.

i also though it might be that some teams would want to carry the load of the rear wing through the beam wing which could be true since ferrari have a pylon directly infront of the wing and the beam wing to carry the load instead.

I bet that beam wing flexes down closer to the crash structure above a certain speed to partially stall out the underside.
