It amazes me that some people just dont get it.
How much of the land area around Chernobyl is unusable and for how long?
Japan might well loose a very large part of its land mass for any human purpose for a very long time.
I hope it does not but the possibility is there.
This fact alone makes the siteing of 50 nuclear reactors close to a geological fault line totaly unacceptable.
There is much more to this issue than meets the casual, complacent glance of the comfortable, wealthy capitalist.
Japan has used nuclear power to dominate the main world markets, ever since the Americans began using it as a capitalist money mine after the war. They shunned nuclear weapons but were prepared to use nuclear energy in a huge way, to follow the capitalist 'dream' of profits at ANY cost. The cost was to put their population at huge risk.
It is a delusion, the waste from nuclear is building up like an evil monster for our children and grand children to pay for. So much for the greedy, selfish, criminal 'dream'.
Alternative energy development to replace this evil and the evil of fossil fuels has been held back for many decades because of this drive for profit at any cost.
Where is the social responsibility from governments? They have given it to private industry that would kill its grandmother for profit.
The world needs responsible leaders who will work to improve our planet and our lives. Not from material greed but through environmental balance and social interaction. It can happen and world communication can make it so.
