If it were possible they would run it already ,don´t you think so?
If they could easily switch back and forth..they would undoubtedly have it in their armoury for the race as well...and it does not look like that.
So : this is going to hurt RedBull significantly but they are not alone.I doubt you can change an engine map during a 3 second pitstop as there is no active programming allowed via telemetry..The ECU cannot be changed as well... so they are stuck with what is in the electronics box they use in Q and what the engine can take in terms of punishment.
Mclaren had the best cooling package ...maybe that´s a help now ..if they have a tank capacity big enough.

Makes me wonder why Rosberg was flying in that one race... maybe Mercedes is capable of running the Qmap for extended times but has not the fuel capacity to make the distance?

I just read elsewhere that Hamilton never used his DRS in practice.

Can anyone confirm?

Yes, it didn't work this morning. On TV we heard a conversation between Hamilton and his engineer telling that they will not run DRS this morning.

McLaren did not use DRS because they ran some aero tests.
Marc Surer adds: "McL were running the whole session with closed rear wing, they were on race setup. If they open the rear wing they could go 1.40s as well."

Webber was 8/10ths faster than anyone else in P1 - looks like the EBD changes do suit Webber and have made no real difference to the pecking order. 8)

Renault looking pretty handy so far with Nick lopping 1.5secs off his Prime Tire Time after bolting on the Options and going fastest with a 1:39.040 (7/10ths faster than Vettel and Webber were on Primes).

39 mins left in the session.

Webber and Vettel back out on the Options and Webber goes to the top with a 1:38.531 and smashes everyone ! =D>

Vettel's 1st lap was slow, going for another one now.

Vettel responds to Webber with 1:38:265.

Webber was going even faster but got caught behind Pastor and aborted the lap.

Looks like RBR are not loosing anything at all with the new Regs.
