Never thought of it that way, you could be quite right here. This world engine thing was imo a good idea on paper, yet in real life it cannot work. I mean, same engines for every sport? Rally and touring cars require a way different engine compared to F1, and what do you think about the ILMS? The idea was for manufacturers to easily enter f1 or another sport, for example Honda could say 'F1 is too expensive, come we take our engine plant it in a Civic and go do WRC with it', this, on paper, would cause a more healthy and stable atmosphere. What bothers me even more about it is FIA did similair earlier with the Group C, requiring same engines as F1 to guide manufacturers to lure these manufacturers into F1. Apart from Mercedes and Peugeot nobody from Group C entered and the Peugeot engines where a complete failure.
The people have spoken and stated they want an open rule allowing V10s / turbos / active suspension like the good ole days.
Wanting and being able to have are way different things, unless the f1 drivers are going to run pressure suits we cannot even have the technolgy as this will really push the limits of g-forces, this will cause deaths as drivers will lose consciousness while driving at high speed.
F1 has lost itself but the public is getting real sharp now and the FIA is dirty dishwater getting ready to be thrown out.
With Todt that sure is going to happen. He barely finished Mosley's projects and now is actually doing nothing, what has he achieved right now? With mosley that world engine woulc have come, if they wanted it or not, Mosley would just shove it up their throats. Todt misses this and it is already ruining the FIA's power.
Green should be only for Lotus to race around in.
Pinnacles in automotive technology define F1, not politics.
These 'pinnacles' are now just based on green technology, if you want it or not. Formula1 has nothing to do with road cars at all and that they are trying to achieve relevance is just stupid. LMP's are and always have been way more relevant to road cars then formula 1 cars and it has to stay that way
