No matter what the situation with the fairness of the rule changes, the easiest way to clear up this mess is obviously to give these 12 most responsive and resourceful engineering companies on the planet 2 weeks to build new exhaust systems that exit their exhaust gases in an appropriately benign location. This would free up all the engine manufacturers to run any maps they need to and if the correct location is chosen, it would have roughly the same impact upon all the engineering groups, if not the cars... If these teams can't achieve this, then I have no respect for them as engineering organizations...

You misread me, I said Diffuser blowing has been in use since the 80's, Renaults had this in '83.

Btw, to all those who doubted me when I said ages ago that the removal of off-throttle blowing would help Mark, the proof is in his Silverstone Pole Position and the fact that he's been faster than Seb all weekend. 8)

Not that I mind, but the first image in the link you supplied is wrongly labelled "Exhaust blown diffuser on Renault RE40 (V6 Turbo) F1", when it is obviously a Williams FW16b".

got to love how the engineers are soo cunning that they'll cause this much trouble though :D :D

are Ferrari powered cars in this issue or is it purely Red Bull vs McLaren?

I doubt Ferrari will be voting yes too, for that matter.

the sauber seems to be the car at trouble getting heat into the tyres...with the long sweeping high g cornering there is surely no issue with getting heat into the tyres.. maybe the distribution of temperatures front rear is more the problem.
and with Hamilton losing out to Button it seems to be a front end related issue?

I for one, did not realise the benefit that the EBD clampdown would bring to Ferrari. They, along with a bunch of other teams it seems (Williams, Force India) obviously were a long way off the ball with this and the decision to restrict EDBs has really made a big difference to them. So it's little surprise to see Ferrari spoiling the opportunity to put it back together again:

Formula 1 faces continued uncertainty as teams fail to reach agreement in exhaust rules row

So what's going on, we're Ferrari simply behind the curve on the whole blowing concept or was the engine simply not up to it?

Autosport now reports that Valencia rules are to stand, Silverstone not. Does this mean that Silverstone points will be annulled as it's the only race with these funky regs? :?
