...as he didn't do a second Q3 run, he's back in the game. Luckily for him, his first run was good enough for P4. And only 5 thousandths of a second slower than Button.

Still not sure why he's "hosed"...P4 isn't a bad result after a puncture and other problems during qualifying.

P4 is quite good actually. Once the cars ahead are faster it's not a hindrance.
Button may be the only slower car infront and he's not that slow and not an agressive defender.
I'd rather be in Alonso and Hamilton's position going into turn 1. Webber and Vettel side by side spells trouble.
You just don't know what is going trough webber's mind as it relates to keeping the championship alive. He might just try something crazy.

What caused the puncture?

If it was a deffective tyre, pirelli should replace it. Can't blame the team for poor quality product. Didn't rosberg get another set to use in Monza as well?
For Sure!!

What was the deal with Schu? Preserving tires?

Generally I don't care about what people say. I have to be clear with myself. When everything goes well, people celebrate you, when you make mistakes people criticize you.

He may be holding a little back. No one wants to bin their car in Saturday practice. As I said earlier the walls are going to be a bit of an equalizer. jmho
Who will be the first to really clock their car into a wall?

Ross is playing smart again? I also guess it's for preserving tires

I imagine on a low grip street circuit like this, third may be better than second. with webber's recent start history, button could challenge for the lead early on.

Hosed by his team for not getting him out for a seond lap in q3
And RedBull wouldn't have the front row locked out.

No, the point is that he only has 2 sets of super-softs for the race. 4 sets per weekend, 1 set used up completely over the course of practice and quali, 1 set punctured = 2 left for the race. One of which he didn't end up using in Q3, which is a small advantage. So unless its wet or they can get away with a 2-stop strategy (unlikely according to Pirelli), he'll have to use soft tyres twice.

For Hamilton's tyre...If it was indeed a defective tyre and not damage by any contact caused by himself,he deserves a new set of SS as Rosberg was given. It could as well be caused by debris which is again out of drivers fault.
I doubt he will be getting another set though.

I think Schumacher not going for a run is a very sensible and mature decision.when Rosberg ,who is THE qualifier bags p7 there is nothing to gain with that final run BUT a new set of tyres will give you not just one second but a bag of time as all your subsequent laps should be quicker than going on a set that has done a qualy attempt.I´m pretty sure the Qualy attempt rattles them more than a "normal" race lap so you may gain even more in terms of elapsed time over the stint and maybe also with the behaviour when they reach the cliff.
so considering he can reproduce those first laps my impression is he is already thinking about how to bag another fifth ..but realistically The w02 can only be 7th in the current field on merit.
Nice to finally see them (MGP)adopting the other option + splitting their bets instead of pretending they had any chance to challenge for decent positions on speed and in consequence running too conservative strategies
