If that was his job title then those projects weren't particularly special.

If you read between lines of his CV that JET has helpfully provided us with it's not terribly inspiring.

Aha – Wasn’t the DDD discovered at SuperAguri?

He must be the link to Super Aguri. Garood worked for them and switched to Honda in March 09 just in time to let them know about the DDD for the car that emerged as Brawn in 2010. His profile on LaSource Technologies says he was the detail designer for the front wing, that was also fundamental to the Brawn success. http://www.lasourcetechnologies.com/Personnel.html

He was top of the class at Imperial. Must be a very bright chap.

Ps – Its funny how LinkedIn categorises companies. Brawn is a “marketing” company, while Ferrari are “entertainment”

God where is this leading to?
Now you start judging people from photos and whether they wear a blue shirt or a white one. Then the next one comes and complains that this man's career is not inspiring. Well maybe you post your own career so we can see what an inspiring career is.

I can't see anything wrong with his guy and I respect everybody who is doing the stuff he did. You guys should meet those people in real life first before you draw any conclusions. As richard said he must be a "bright chap".

Btw: I wonder where X and marcush are, possible that the standard of this discussion has dropped under their niveau.

The DDD was developed(actually the loophole discovered) by a Japanese engineer working for Honda R&D back in Japan. This was then transferred over to Brackley and the rest is history.
As for Garood, if he did come up with the front wing then you have to say he seems a one trick pony. The BGP001 W01 and W02 wings are all fundmentally the same.

Being the most important aero device on the car, you would expect to see a bit more progress in this area. Maybe Bell wanted ideas and this bloke reproduced the same thing for 2012.
This will not suffice if your planning on catching Ferrari and McLaren let alone Red Bull.
More could have been done.

Didn't Renault turn out 3294080395 different front wings when Bell was there? It seemed like a new one every weekend. Maybe that's why the guy left JET, differences on the front wing approach. Or maybe he just simply found a better job.

I just think when you have a front wing design stagnation, you have to change things.
I can also guess that had Bell(or any worthy TD) not been there, Garood would still be churning out BGP001 wings on the W03.

Look its a great wing to start with, but since ever since 2010 none of the top 3 are using designs remotely similar. That tells you something, but most of all you need to keep evolving your design process. If you dont you get swallowed up.

But surely there has to be more than one person designing the front wing?

Not sure.

But I dont think a wing is designed by commitee either.

Yes the aero will be a team effort, but the point is that Garood specialised in the front wing, and that was a significant part of the Brawn.

Judging on 2010 and 2011, I think its best they parted company.

Isn't it also interesting that since Garood left, Mercedes have had 2(yes they are minor, exceptionally minor) Front wing updates. I wont count this last one at singapore, as that isn't discernible to my eye.

Brawn wants more clarity from the RRA.

Makes sense. I read that after the Nurburgring GP Brawn asked for (and received) the go ahead from Dr. Z to bring Mercedes GP up to the staffing limit. It's logical that Brawn would now push from the other end to bring his competitors down to the limit they all agreed upon.

I remember Horner's original rebuttal to this was that, as a works team, Mercedes GP should include all of the staff at Mercedes HPE. I wonder if Horner's opinion has since changed with RB becoming Renault's "works team".

Speaking of Dr. Z, I've been really impressed with him. I love teams that show a unified front, and I especially love it when the man who signs the checks for a works team voices unilateral support for his drivers and crew. I'm specifically referring to Dr. Z voicing his approval of Schumacher's driving at Monza. That felt good.
