Folks, this is a private entity who have built a circuit and its their deals with Bernie. Its not sponsored by the Govt.

So, please let us not compare it with the country's economic growth or a space program. Unfortunately, many people still think of india from "slumdog millionaire" which is basically poverty porn..

lets hope it goes well with proper marshalling and event organisation..lady gaga and metallica are set to perform during the weekend as well

TV viewers in the UK were subjected to listening to Ravi Shastri and his BCCI-mandated cohorts revel in their enforced supplemented audience.

Dermot Reeve told his bewildered viewers that the India bowlers were thriving as a result of having "nice, warm hands", while Sourav Ganguly relentlessly plugged the BCCI website as the home of "almost live" internet streaming.

It was an experience which, it is hoped, UK viewers will not have to suffer in the remaining four ODIs but, after such an unexpected TV blackout, nothing can be taken for granted.

Television viewers were subjected to a still image (pictured, below) with broadcasters David 'Bumble' Lloyd and Nick Knight forced to provide a radio-style commentary over a mobile phone as a result of a 'pictures blackout'.

Lloyd coped admirably with the farcical situation as he reported live on air that there were 'licence issues' which had not been resolved while the match began out on the field with viewers unable to watch.

The blackout was caused by a breakdown in negotiations between rights-holding production company Nimbus, the Board of Control for Cricket in India, and the Indian government. The knock-on effect ensured that no coverage was possible.

The on-screen message during the debacle simply read: "There is no TV coverage of the India v England 1st ODI due to pictures blackout in India. You are listening to commentary live from Hyderabad via a phone line."

Thankfully, neither Bumble nor Knight were attempting to use a Blackberry.

Televised coverage finally resumed at 10:15 UK time after Lloyd joyously reported in commentary that the dispute had been successfully resolved.

The situation did little to improve the BCCI's international reputation - with TV viewers unable to even observe Hawkeye-associated graphics. The DRS is again not permitted for the series due to the Indian board's scepticism of the technology.
If a blackout of pictures happens, i guess bernie will have some thing to answer to. Lets face it, it will probably result ina mutany.

And for those that dont know, DRS is also used in cricket as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umpire_Dec ... iew_System

I have a feeling this could be a developing story. And if things dont go F1s way in India, id recon that a swift dropping of the track will be on the cards.

What does neo sports channel and bcci debacle got to do with f1?
It's not like bcci is broadcasting f1! :?
F1 is filmed by FOM and broadcasted by espnstar in Asia .....if there is any blackout it should be between FOM and espnstar ...not Indian government

Yup let's drop every race conducted by non europeans.......just coz there is no history of f1 in that country
Imagine what would have happened of spa track if it was dropped back then coz there is not so much history there like others
What is done today is history in few years.... Come back in 2050 and we will have people praising about the f1 track in india and its rich history....
I didnt see this much fuss in races like Korea or turkey when it was introduced :wtf:
Now look at those two races...it's pathetic now
At least India has a f1 team!!! Two f1 drivers!

This was the same sh!t storm created by people outside Asia and Africa when vijay Malaya brought midland team.

Intego - "quiet" in what context?

ESP - Just a hunch, but I think Bernie and his FOM TV feed have a firm contract with your broadcaster so no last minute contract negotiations to cause a blackout. #-o

I mean that there are no news from the track. Last pictures from the end of september don't look very optimistic and the "government issues" are treated behind closed doors – if at all.
Will the race take place? When will the circuit be homologated or is it already?

Ok, last year's Korea race was similar and in the end it worked out. Though I have a bad feeling that this year it could become worse on the one hand and the media is holding feet low on the other ...

Well, I keep calm and wait. [-o<

Well it has as much chances of taking place as any other circuit. In India every day they are advertising the Grand Prix.

Anyways if this does not take place my 2 cents Brazil & Abu Dhabhi wont take place. The track has been ready for sometimes, the grandstands are almost ready or was a month back, the safety & hospitality units are in place.

Sure this was supposed to take place in massive scale & probably they wont be able to do it all. But it will be pretty good. They are paying massive taxes & will pay taxes from drivers & teams if needed. They have invested 450 crores already & are bringing Metallica & Lady Gaga.

If needed they will put in a few crores more & engage 5000,10000 labourers or whatever need be.

Honestly I don't doubt it will take place. But I would like to know something more about the track and so on.

What really bothers me is that the FIA does not have the chance to demand changes if something is not done as it would have been necessary (nothing to do with the circuit but with the system). They should have learned from Korea last year, but it's more likely it will be the same next year in Austin ...

Nevermind, I'll be quiet ... ;-)

EDIT: fixed typo

Second to you Intego. I have been to the track so many times and after seeing the mess there I coudnt resist to castigate the oraganisers and the FIA. I think Austin is way ahead and they'll complete the task in due time.

Wow, they've made a lot of progress recently. I can't wait to see what happens in turns 1/2/3. That looks like an awesome setup for getting past into 1, having the other driver cut back under, attempt to out-drag them round the outside, and then take the place back into 3. I guess then the DRS will be down the back straight, so a pass back into 4 would be on the cards, and then again into 5. Really looks like a good layout.
