Di Resta is not your run of the mill rookie. He's not wet behind the ears perez or Maldonado, he's been around the team and the cars, and he's a DTM champion. He wasn't born yesterday and he knows the ropes.
Secondly sutil still appears to me as the better driver overall if we wipe away all the BBC bias. There were times when diresta seemed lost on track.
Di Resta is good, but i don't think Sutil was showed up in any way. His strong finishes at spa and other races still proves he one of the fastest guys on the grid.
His wet weather driving is still among the best too.

If anything they are about equal in speed and sutil has more experience and a little more composure.
Di Resta also has Hamilton Sr. as mentor, which counts for a lot.

I don't think Ferrari will turn down Adrian Sutil if the opportunity arises. As it is if we look across the driver market, Sutil is the best guy who can replace massa. The others are washed up, or ferrari kicked them out (kimi).
Massa wasn't anything special when he joined ferrari. Replacing him with a half decent and hungry driver would be an improvement.
For Sure!!

I recall Massa being a very aggressive & attacking driver in the early years with Sauber.

If we get rid of massa for 2012, who can fill the seat out of the current crop of seat less drivers?

Mods send this to the silly season thread if you must.

It's already being discussed in the Silly season thread that Sutil should be banging on Ferrari's door already. Personally I wouldn't be surprised if Perez was too.

I would like to drop my 2 cents on the LH / Massa incident:

Hamilton clearly lifted off and left space for Massa to go side by side. Massa defended poorly allowing LH to get by. This time no fault at LH's side, gladly the Stewards saw that as well.

It was sad to see how LH was so unmotivated after that crash.....couldn't pass and didn't want to pass the Toro Rosso. But when the message came: Massa's got the penalty, he just came alive again, good to see (and I don't like him too much :) )

Pretty good race at a very nice track. I could imagine Touring cars will have incredible races on that track, for F1 it's a bit too twisty.....in the sweepers you just cannot hang on to the guy in Front.

Anyone saw the post race interview of Schumacher?

http://en.espnf1.com/india/motorsport/story/63037.html

Here is the video:

is good to know he had a good weekend with everything gone to plan like saving tires, KERS, etcs. Schumacher has definitely improved compared to last year.

In the meantime, we can laugh at this:

I never knew Massa is like this. :o He has always been a soft/gentle person. Now, he is creating drama, adding fuel to fire, etcs. Hamilton meant well to try and chat with him after the the 1 min silence before race. Post race, this is Massa's response to Hamilton's effort. :x

Just for that, he got what he deserved... Penalty, 2 broken suspensions and beaten by his teammate. hahaha.. :D

Massa soft, ...gentle?

Massa is the baddest mother trucker on the grid. He learned well from being Micheal's teammate at ferrari.
Don't let his baby demeanor fool you. He is very agressive on track, if not the most.

As far back as i can remember massa has been in many dog fights on track.
Remember when he spun lewis at nurburgring in 07? Then there's the battle with Button this year.

Today was Massa's fault. Previous incidents he has been relatively fair. For example the Button incident you mention? I presume Australia is what you mean? In the case what you witnessed was something the rest of us know as, 'racing'. Unfortunately for Jenson he got flustered and ruined his own race.

Massa probably did learn well from Schumacher. I do not need to remind you he is the most successful driver in the history, and a very competent driver in wheel to wheel action. His record of never losing a place at the start this year is justification. I dont know what else you were suggesting by that comment other than commending the great driver was, and is and how that rubbed off on Massa (as his earlier seasons showed!).

Massa is not rough. He is doing his job as a 'racing driver'. Today he made a mistake. Lewis has a made a few this year as have other drivers. It happens and im sure you know this already.

Well, he hasn't done for 2 races now (big achievement  ), so shall we drop it before this race thread becomes a hornets nest?
Fail.

interesting to watch different drivers taking different lines at turn 10-11
and other parts of the track.. vettel has a wide entry to it, mark a slight..
i haven't seen button.. lewis cuts early & compromises speed at exit(similar
to petrov)

I know what racing is. Massa's "racing" has compromised his speed. That's not racing, that's playing the stumbling block to stop guys from getting to his master Alonso.
Massa doesn't race for him self anymore and that's why he'll never get back to 2008 or 2009 level of competitiveness.
His racing is compromising his career. So i don't see what is admirable in that.
He learned the worst things from Shumi, not the good things.
Go back to 2008 and even 2009 when he didn't have the fastest car, and you see a massa who drives for himself, stays out of trouble most of the time and gets some decent results. Now, his track trolling has taken over his whole ability as an F1 driver.
He's not high on any teams list if Ferarri drop him like they did kimi.

His contact with hamilton and the subsequent crash into the curb was just embarrassing. Never knew he'd lose the whole plot like that. Rob Smeddley's shrug says it all. You must ask yourself what is Massa's purpose in ferrari; win races, win constructors titles, or play stumbling block?
For Sure!!

Apparantly one of the Mclarens lost some ballast during qualifying. Anyone know something about it, where it comes from?
