Can someone explain me why last year it was an rumor that he would return with the same team, Raikkonen described it as an joke and I believe he even said he didnt want to do bussiness with them anymore after this weak rumor, why would he now sign for them? It is just an stupid decision, Williams might be further back but are looking decent for the future, a lot of people have doubts that LRGP even lasts a year.

I think his beef was mostly with Boullier, who this season has turned out to be something of a real buffoon. I can't see Boullier being Team Principal there much longer because I'm convinced that Raikkonen wasn't his signing.

That one was quite shocking news. I was totally sure, he'd go to the Williams. I'm sorry for Kubica, because it looks like, he won't have a seat in 2012 waiting for him, as LRGP won't be able to afford not having pay driver. Honestly, I can't imagine how are they going to pay Kimi's salary!

Edit: For typo ;)

Perhaps Williams have agreed to have Kubica on loan if he is able to return mid season. A bit like football players being loaned to clubs lower down the league to regain fitness after a long absence.

It would be a neat solution - Kimi gets a better car, Kubica has a seat, Renault get a fit driver, Williams get a highly rated driver than they could otherwise afford.

Doubt that. Kubica does not have a contract for 2012, so what loan could it be?

Most F1 contracts have an option to extend. So his current contract may expire this year, but I'd be surprised if Renault didn't originally have an option to extend that. So they might have merely extended the extension option.

The scenario could be that Renault have an option for him to drive for them in 2013 and they've loaned him to Williams for 2012.

Lets face it, Kubica doesn't have much choice. Renault perceive themselves as a top team so don't want to lose another year waiting for Kubica, hence the need to sign a robust driver like Kimi.

Kubica knows there aren't any other setas available, the next best alternative would be HRT or GP2. Perhaps he could take Kimi empty rally seat??? So in that context, a Williams seat waiting for his mid-season return would be a bonus

Of course this is all la-la land, and none of us have an slightest inkling of what Kubica is going to do.

Is Williams looking decent for the future? Really? Last news I read, they might loose their sponsorship from Venezuela(PDVSA) Sam Michael left and Patrick Head is leaving. Wait, they also failed to sign a F1 WDC by the name of Kimi Raikkonen! :) Mike Couglan, Jason Somerville and Mark Gillan are new recruits, let's at least wait for the FW34(benchmark) before we make any predictions about how they'll do in the long run.

Have you read anything about Geni Capital lately? Snoras Bank has been involved in money laundering(Vladimir Antonov), they might loose some money from that investment, but otherwise they don't seem to be running out of money(despite what rumours you might have heard). On the contrary, it seems that Gerard Lopez has no need of LRGP making him any money at all, just helping him by working as a global business plattform. I posted(first page on the R32 thread) an artcicle earlier this year, read it if you can find it...

In my point of view, LRGP is looking much better than Williams if you compare car performance(potential for next car) or anything else... this year LRGP still retained their fifth position in the WCC dispite making a critical design error and let's not mention the quality of the teams drivers.

I am glad Kimi is returning to F1. I wish it was for a different team though. Maybe he will be able to jump into Schumacher's vacancy if/when he retires.

Indeed. He seems to be scarily chatty in that interview.

I wanted Mercedes to have Kimi as the pair to Rosberg in 2010 (Had no idea that Schumacher would come back). Maybe in the future they'll have him as their driver, but it is also dependent on how he is gonna perform next season. I always wondered where Hamilton will go if he desires to part ways with McLaren. Vettel is at RB, and Ferrari has got Alonso. He may want to stay McLaren. What am I talking about, really?!

I heard sometime back that Ferrari was interested in Kubica (may be for 2013 as Massa has a contract till 2012). Though I am really mot sure how authentic this info is.

It has been suggested. This was in yesterdays news, and coupled with the Kimi signing it does stand to reason that if RK is not 100% for 2012 it may well happen.
According to rumours in the F1 paddock, he has already agreed to move to Ferrari in 2013.

"I need to understand if he could be back, and the commitment of Robert for the medium term," Boullier told Autosport.

"I will not bring a car for him and make a nice test for him if in 2013 he has signed already an option elsewhere."
