Gurney Question

My question is on a comparison of the gurney accepted on the diffusers and the gurney that was rejected on Ferrari's rear wing in Spain this year?

As I understand it, teams actually did stick strips onto their rear wings as gurneys and this was allowed. Ferrari turned up with a more permanent rear wing flap - more like those attached to diffusers (which have been accepted).

Would love some layman type feedback. Thanks

The Ferrari rear wing didnt have the gurney attached to it. It was simply an extension of the slot gap spacer which the rules state have to be 200mm apart from each other

I believe you will find that the diffuser (or related to the diffuser location) rules provide 20 mm extra height ONLY for some form of Gurney. This is not the case for the rear wing.

Thanks gents, really appreciate that. Brian, not looking for you the exact rule, but, could you guess which of the FiA rule sets would actually cover that? I mean, I know they have the Sporting and then the Technical Regulations - any idea where they'd cover that sort of thing?
