Can someone run a little cfd testing for me?

I'm working on the diffuser area of my formula car for next season. We're limited in what we can do by our ruleset.

I have a few iterations of the diffuser / floor ready as solidworks files, along with test parameters (ride height front/rear, airspeed).

Can anyone help me out a little bit here with some downforce and drag numbers?

I don't have anything right now. My copy of solidworks doesn't have any of the plugins yet, nor would I actually know what to do with them.

We could use more information if ya want effective help. Someone asked what formula you are racing.

Also, just an underfloor and diffuser are practically useless. The flow under the body is highly dependant on the body, wings, and tires of the car. How complete is the model?

It's for an SCCA class called F5. No wings allowed, but diffusers are legal along with sports car noses, provided they do not fully enclose the front tire (when seen from above). The car is autocrossed and club raced, but I'm most concerned with developing a high downforce package for autocrossing right now.



I can supply some bodywork to go along with the floor/diffuser.

Relevant rules: the highest and lowest part of the floor cannot deviate more than 1" vertically between the front and rear axle. After the rear axle centerline, the diffuser is free of regulations. The max width of the car is 55", which gives about 33" to play with between the insides of the rear tires.

okay , first of all you need a mesh file with the required boundary condition set up , I would like to ask you , why do you need a cfd model ?

mahesh, he doesn't need to make mesh. He can send a step, iges, or parasolid for example to someone with CFD software that can make the mesh.

Yeah , if the geometry is not so complex , he can go for a structured mesh , which would give more accurate results.

Niaz was nice enough to run some simulations and give me his feedback. As soon as he finishes up his work I'll post his findings, provided he's OK with it.
