From the first 2006 GP, I was really,really, upset with the 2006 qualifying format. Confusing and too complicated. Drivers can cheat by blocking other drivers. All this new regulations only to help poor Ferrari. To help Bridgestone.

Obviously, you forget that Renautl had problems with Michelin tyres too, Kimi lost a race because he could not change a destroyed tyre (I know, I know, and I was the first one to note that 6 points are better than 0), etc. Tyre changes came back because it was a stupid move.

All teams spend thousands of km just to develop tyres. Do not forget that.

Well guys, I know nobody is with me right now, but I really really really think it was a genuine mistake on Michael's part. He was on a timed lap and he did his best 1st sector time. He was really trying to get a nice lead over Alonso. If you look at the onboard camera footage, he did brake hard as he was about to turn and that caused him to slide the way he did.

Secondly, do you really think that a man like him, the greatest sportsman in the world, a 7 time championship winner, and the most respected person in F1 would really do something like that on purpose? and spoil his reputation? Its like Bernie Ecclestone doing a strip show in the paddock. Anybody getting my point?????

I would suggest you look at the videos again very closely. He locked up in almost a straight line, he straightened the car (watch the arms move to the left) mid corner when there was no reason to, and he was going very slowly. Look carefully at the over head camera shot. Either that or take off the very red Ferrari coloured glasses you are wearing and open your eyes

He's still going for it around the corner. That lap was actually faster than he's previous lap!!

Two things...

He didn't brake just when he was about to turn because turning in that corner begins much before that point and it is not the place where you lock your brakes because speed is alredy reduced before so locking up was just for show.

Secondly, even if racing line was clear once driver sees yellow flag he looses time because it interupts his attempt to drive as fast as possible since he is forced to focus on something else. Hill climb drivers have a saying that says "if you have bad luck to see any flag during your attempt you've already lost a second".

Yeah but surely the team would of radioed him about where Michael stopped, so Alonso could go for the pole.

I think that no one uses radio com during flying lap in Monaco. That's even worse than yellow flag.

The one thing I keep thinking is why would Schumacher so obviously cheat? I don't question whether or not he's the kind of person who would cheat. I just think that if he's the terrible, unethical driver that everyone makes him out to be, he'd be a little more subtle in his cheating ways.

Stopping on the track to get in the way of others is too obvious. I mean, the whole racing world is loudly crying foul over this. That sort of lets me know that this was a mistake. Anyone with half a brain would have to know that such a blatant action wouldn't go unpunished.

ketanpaul, please take off the blinders and wake up. This is not the first time he has done this very same thing, he was famous for parking his car during qualifying while in karts and touring cars. Secondly, he already is the most fined and penalized driver in F1 history. Not opinion, plain, statistical facts.
Yes, Michael Schumacher is a great driver, with incredible experience, skill, intelligence, and competence. But he is also ruthless in his pursuit of wins, willing to step over the line of ethical conduct more than once. An athlete, yes. A sportsman? definitely not.

West: Of course theres a difference but in Villeneuves case he really shouldnt throw rocks since he is sitting in a glasshouse.

As a former Worldchampion VIlleneuve should know for example that he is not allowed to pass under the yellowflag or the safetycar.

starting from the back of the grid n finishing 5th n setting the fastest lap of the race shows us how good he is ...... so enuff said bout the accident..... he's punished n showed us how he can bounce back from an incident like that....
