The Mild Seven Renault F1 Team is planning to protest Ferrari's Michael Schumacher pole postion at Monaco. Schumacher parked his car at Rascasse causing a hold up for the drivers who were still clocking a fast lap, like Fernando Alonso.

Then, either you are mistaken, or Schumacher has magical powers to know that Alonso, Kimi and Webber were behind him on a 'hot' lap. Look at the qual sector times at f1.com. Schumacher was on a VERY hot lap, at least at 1st split. According to your speculation, he could not know anything about the track status/position etc.
I agree with Jackie Stewart, he made a mistake on the entrance and descided to bin it just in case.
Should have been knocked out the race though IMO. Silly A hole.

I really can't get my head around the motivation for doing this. When exhibiting less-than-sporting behaviour back in '94 and '97 there were championships at stake; this was for only a qualifying position.
As much as I thoroughly dislike the chap, to my mind it was not deliberate.
Why did he straighten up half-way round the hairpin? My guess is that he did not want to wreck his tyres by continuing to brake harshly around a bend, and that he did not have enough room on the exit was an unfortunate misjudgment.

I think he really did a mistake and once he knew he won't improve his time, thought of it as perfect opportunity to secure a position. He really didn't try hard to get out of there. He didn't have much time to think about it...
I watched the old videos and he may be a great driver, but he definitely is a clumsy cheater.

Based on how hard it easy to overtake at Monaco, if you can secure the pole, you are virtually "given" the win, abeit failures.
I'm at Southampton Uni doing 3rd year Aerospace, how're the exams going?
Ahhh...Trust Michael to offer up YET MORE contovosy has he has done so so frequently in the past lmao!
Ah well he got what he deserves, but trust him to have a race that looks like going nowhere then SUDDENLY...BANG, Webber - out, Kimi - mOut, Safety car period, then suddenly he's in the pionts...Typical haha!
About the actual incident, in schumi's defence (never thought you'd hear ME say that eh?) he DID lock-up his front right going in to La Rasscase. BUT, he did NOT "slide" as he tried vainly to piont out, (i.e he did not oversteer) and therefopre did NOT need to stop turning into the corner TWICE!!!
I completely agree with JYS...he had a little mistake and then made the most out of it, but its just like he always has been. Even mark Blundell said "We all know what he's like".
I have 100% respect for his abilities but behaviour like this, on such a (relatively) frequent basis throughout his carear has tainted his carear and just leaves me feeling that insted of watching true history in the making I and many others have had to wittness one man attain 7 hollow world championships.
I as a fan just feel cheated by Michael, as rather than see great history in the making in each decade as our (older) fellow fans have done by witnessing the likes of Fangio (most titles - until recently), Brabham (winning in his own car), Fittipaldi (youngest champ - until now), Senna (most poles - until now), Mansell (most poles in a season) record new records. Us, people of mine an Tom's era, have had to witness Michael Schumacher win his first title by driving another driver off the track, get DQ after the '97 inccident, get that controvertial push start at Nurburgring in 2003, and now make a joke of qualifying in Monaco 2006.
All of Michaels (admittedly amazing achievements) have been a bit sour, and hard to watch, only Fernando (having become the youngest ever champ) has set a new record that was a JOYOUS thing for me to watch as an avid fan. At Interlargos in 2005 FINALLY I was able to watch an F1 race and say "I have just seen History being made" and actually have a SMILE on my face.
YES Michael is brilliant, but he does nothing for F1 as a spectator sport, His domination never bothered me...all that bothered me was this domination being sort of...hollow.
Personally i think the only record Michael deserves UNTAINTED is the record of dirtiest driver on the track.
Silence is golden when you don't know a good answer.
i agree when you say that e did a little mistake and got the oportunety to make the parking of the car but if you cam remember david colthar in 2000 in spa when shumi was about to lap him we crash in the back of collthard mclarem because collthard did a brake test this is an example and in 1994 i think hill made the mistake not shumi in 1997 it was shumi not vileneuf ...so every drivers made mistakes
depending on the point of view they are judge by the people and espacaly the press
if shumi did it whid intencion e should be out of f1 but the point is this if it wos other drivers..i think we were not having this conversation or if shumi broke the wing....
lets stop this stupid discution we are not going any where whid this
Well, it has to be admired at how much ability Michael Schumacher has. From being punted to the back to rebound and finish so well speaks volumes for his determination and talent. No mistake, a great driver in a great team.
But it has to be said over and over again, that the kind of action we witnessed at qualifying is nothing new to Shu, he has done stuff like this countless times. A repeat offender.
Just about every driver, at one time or another, has made an error in moral judgement and done something considered shameful. Senna wrecked out Prost at Suzaka. JV blocking Fisi. And I'm sure I could list a thousand incidents. But for each driver, these are exceptions, they are bad behavior that they do very rarely, if ever repeated.
But with Shu, he does this a lot, he is a repeat offender.
