No, he means this isn't the one that's been crash tested.Raptor22 wrote:so you mean they have to crash test the actual race chassis before MOnday....
Yep. I bet they show up with a better nose in testing. I bet thise one was just covered up for pictures. It looks like a brick in the wind.A13EX_f wrote:the simplicity of the bump in the nose cone makes me think this is just a red herring and their actual race / testing nose will be much more complex, I mean even the caterahm's bump looks more developed than this one.
Given that all it needs is the nose redone, and that is already a dummy part due to the overly simple front wing, yes, I do thin they'd waste resources on it.NoDivergence wrote:So in other words, the car that we see here from driver's seat and up is not the actual car? Give me a break, you think they have time to waste resources on something like that?
No, just the changeable front wing assembly. Which includes the entire stepped bit and everything afterwards. The monocoque ends somewhere just after the suspension and then the removable nosecone starts, which can be completely changed/modified easily throughout the season.NoDivergence wrote:So in other words, the car that we see here from driver's seat and up is not the actual car? Good spot! I take it you mean the turning vane being split, right? I hadn't seen that. I suspect we'll see a few more of these soon.shelly wrote:original bits like the flapped pod wing
All of these bumps are going to suffer some drag, right? They are a little disadvantaged to McLaren in this respect, but I'd agree that it is probably not a great amount.shelly wrote:Really the bump of the nose has a very little aero effect, just a local high pressure followed by low pressure and two weak vortices on the sides.
