Looks like Mclaren have resort to a two plane front wing instead the usual three for the spanish GP.
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.
if mclaren is better or..not we cant tell in monaco...in this race all the pack is closer ...but one thing i now ..to finish frist, you frist have to finish if the engine is +50hp and still blow what the point
Wasn't it said though that the McLaren would've lasted longer, cept for the fact that they weren't going fast enough to get enough cool air, thanks to the safety car.
tbh, Monaco can't be THAT one-off, imo, well, not in the case of McLaren, at least
you are right about the coll air but the 22 cars don t have this problem.. and they have several position in the whell to regulate the engine it is easy do change de performance of the engine down ..and that way reduce the power and the need for a larger amount of air ..remenber in the last lap the drivers changes the engine preformance to save it...so mclarem or was a bad engine or kimi made a mistake???!! or was just bas luck
Why do you focus on engines that much?
Apparently, the overheating was on a heat shield that destroyed an wiring loom, which burnt... granted, two small fires in a weekend in the same car is a bit embarassing...
And that makes me wonder: McLaren seems to be the only one who uses real gold plated heatshields. Gold is apparently very good in that function. Or does this proves otherwise?
could be the fact, that since Kimi was all over Fernando, all he was doing was sucking in hot air into the car during all those laps, I think that was the main contributor to his engine fail.

Probably right. Same thing happened to Heidfeld when he was stuck behind Massa last year somewhere if I remember correctly.

But dumrick, from your point where did that heat come from?
I agree whith you that the engine didn't blow up, as we could see Kimi restart to park his car in the run off area after he stopped for the fire to be extincted by the marshal.
But the fact is the car went on fire, because the heat shield was saturated by the high temperature, which, excuse me, come obviously from an overheated engine.
Of course you can argue that there were enough reasons to explain it (slow speed behind the SC, Hot air behind the Renault, smaller radiators that hadn't been tested before...) but the fact is that the Mercedes engine overheated and appart Webber's Cosworth, other's didn't.
