Red Bull RB8 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Is it me or is the car running less rake than in previous years?

Yes. Could be a clever move.

More likely driver cooling. They don't have the hole in the end of the nose.

This could affect the airflow around and over the cockpit as well.
Could it be creating turbulent air in a pocket of high pressure, that smoothes the airflow over the bump...?

I can't quite believe what I'm seeing.

Well it's a fight between Ferrari and RB for the ugly duckling award.

The rear end looks nice but we can't rely on an RB production showing us a good view of the back end.

Exhausts in RB6 position.

After we had seen the RB8, was it here (http://www.f1today.nl/foto.php?file=19211) also the RB8 or the RB7? Can anyone show me the differences?

I think you mean the 'splitter'. The keel is the part that the lower wishbone attaches to. Most modern F1 cars are 'zero keel' like this one.

Did the red bull have the highest nose in past seasons?

That's a good a point he makes about the regulation changes. So why was the EBD banned again? To even up the field?

Of course. Sorry, it being so far forward just reminded me of a yacht's keel. Any idea what advantage you'd have in bringing it forward?

They were able to run more rake because of the EBD. This is in the Newey questionaire above.
