IMO that's mostly to cut drag, than add DF, but hey, you can probably have both!

Those exotic materials might be OK but the paint isn't! :)

I am thinking that Ferrari, as well as McLaren are exiting the exhaust as low as possible so that if they can keep the airflow attached it will then in turn bend the exhaust flow downwards. Maybe the shape of the new sidepods are to try and induce a sort of laminar/streamlined flow as the boundry layer thickens towards the rear of the car, thus helping to push the exhaust gasses down.

well...since all those sensors are there on the outside of the rw endplates down above the diffuser..we wouldnt be mistaken thinking they are trying to seal the diffuser again would we?

nice! where did you find those?? it creates a high pressure point at the step..wouldnt that create some downforce?

It was done by a guy on another forum. Looks like Tombaizs wasn't lying when he said they felt it provided the best aero.

What's going on in the first pic? I see the high pressure zone on the 2nd one; but none in the first?

Also; wouldn't downforce generation based on simple impulse be draggy?

I meant draggier than what they produce with, say, the rear wing.
