Certainly, but the 956/962 were, nevertheless, the best Group C's in a 4 or 5-year span...
To have a slight notion of what was driving these Porsches, I recommend a simulation that is a mod for F1 Challenge 99-02, called Prototype-C. It really feels so real that you can hardly believe and... you must learn again how to drive to drive a 956/962 fast!

That's a great video.

I understood that the Porsches had a spool diff - open on coast and fully locked on power?

I have also heard (can't check from where I am) that at the time, making any other diff reliable enough to last 24hrs with the torque/power of these engines was not really on.......

I have mentioned before watching a sportscar race at Silverstone with a young Schumacher going well in the Mercedes..........same race I was struck by the Porsches. They seemed to be hurled at the corner (pitched in) and the went up the road with the tail wagging and leaving a PAIR of big black lines - happened nearly every lap. Must be hard on the rear tyres.

They are locked on power and coasting side, hence the spool. They must be dealing with tremandous corner entry understeer hence the car needs to be pitched in when entering the corner(or set the car up to lift inside rear on entry, which is just as undesirable....

Hello. The game -EA's F1 Challenge 99-02 - is no longer sold, but I'm sure you can find a copy on eBay, or similar (and that's only the legal way...)
The mod you can find it at http://www.virtua-lm.com/.
To avoid downloading all the patches and Service Packs, you must download the All-In-One Package (688Mb) and a 130Kb Patch. Then, you just have to enjoy it!

:D :D :D Friend of mine has a copy, just have to dig my steering wheel out of the garage. Hmmmm... maybe I will leave this until the off season, when my wife is away and I can play it from dusk till dawn every day without getting into trouble
