moveable ballast is strictly forbidden, it can not be that

Sure looks like a ballast like substance with the ability to change its position, relative to the rest of the car to me. Isn't that "illegal, completely illegal" ?

I don't think so Manchild. Someone has posted a link suggesting an explanation for the original posters queery as to how Toyota have found a so called magical second per lap within the rules. The thing is though that it's not within the rules if it is some sort kinetic, ballast device is it Manchild? Maybe you would prefer it if I started a new topic on the subject.

The Renault system appears to a mass damper operating on the vertical plane and damping nose pitching motion. The effect would be to help maintain a more constant distance between the nose wing and road surface. That would add effficiency, and contribute greatly to increased lap times.
