The RB8 in action in Jerez (Vettel):

You can notice that the exhaust "ramp" also points suspiciously directly at where those HUGE "brake ducts" are located. So yes, it looks like it might be lined up with the diffuser sides from that top view, but like others have been pointing out, there's a 3rd dimension, so if it was just a bit higher than the floor, the exhaust would be providing downforce directly into the wheels.Adrian Newby wrote:

Blimey, I feel like I've got my granny's glasses on when I look at those pictures.

vortex entering the diffuser between the floor and the tire wall (maybe)
The exhaust itself is three dimensional too (not just the car), so I don't doubt at all that some of it might be hitting the brake duct. But that would be incidental. I'm sure Adrian Newey would rather have all the flow go to sealing the diffuser, since the effect is multiplied many times by using it there. It seems clear to me that the exhaust is intended to go to the floor. The side of the bridge basically guides it there, and the tunnel gets the airflow that would otherwise be on the floor out of the way by moving it through the tunnel toward the middle of the car.volarchico wrote:You can notice that the exhaust "ramp" also points suspiciously directly at where those HUGE "brake ducts" are located. I think your vortex turns the wrong way, but that the concept is correct – I'd expect that the air flowing off the side of the side pod will sink and curl under.Adrian Newby wrote:
The different colors don't mean anything, they are just there to show how the exhaust spirals. The vortex portion is not meant to be to scale, only to demonstrate the idea. The blue side of the flow will also probably expand more than shown.
As far as the design of the exhaust system and getting it to seal the diffuser as much as possible, I think it is absolutely brilliant.Jimi_Hendrix_1967 wrote:Som whats the verdict? Do you guys like the car/concept?
