Red Bull RB8 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Looks like an old nose, TBH, not an RB8 one.

The exhaust treatment is not the same in the set of pictures above.

They have buried the nozzle deeper than before. The higher sides limit the amount of spread of the exhaust, in order to keep it concentrated.

if you are talking about the garae pics, with the nose cone removed, it's definitely there, see the queen pic. (maybe turn your monitor contrast down a touch).

if your talking about the one above with the mechanics pushing it into the pit box - sans front wing, it is an old nose (2011?), most probably used for pit-stop practice.

I think the top of the letterbox (top of slot) is on the chassis and not the nose cone.

Could the opening on top of the side pods be the exit for the slit on the nose? Maybe to improve airflow?

whats fairly obvious is that the exhaust gases are not enjoying the treatment of trying to be entrained. Theres a lot of deposit of hot fuel on the body work.
Its also clear form the image how they are trying very hard to keep hot exhaust air and cold round the sidepod air away from each other.

Very good detail design engineering going on there
