race prospect seems better for raikkonen, unlike the alonso, raikkonen have better car then alonso for sure, and he have all the 4 sets of fresh tyresbanibhusan wrote:Race prospects seem to be good for Alonso. He has 4 sets of unused tyres. And since he qualified outside the top 10, he will be allowed to change his tyres too. So he would be able to push bit more compared to others who have 2 (at max 3) sets of unused tyres.
What are the chances that FA would opt for a 3 stopper, use all the 4 sets of fresh tyres and just rocket around the track (in reference to the F2012 pace obviously)?
Raikkonen is out of the question here. What you said is quite evident from the pace of the Lotus. I hope he is more comfortable with the steering system by now.Neno wrote: race prospect seems better for raikkonen, unlike the alonso, raikkonen have better car then alonso for sure, and he have all the 4 sets of fresh tyres
I watched F1 since 1995 and i can not remember a radical car going straight to the front. 1996 Ferrari, 2003 Mclaren, 2004 Williams were all failures in the end despite much hype about how "radical they were". It seems to me that to build a dominant car, it takes at least 1 or 2 years of refinement and improvement of an existing. Ferrari should know this - we saw the steady progress made from 96 to 2002.raymondu999 wrote:A radical change was always going to be risky. I think what most people are saying is that the F150 should have been kept on - just sans the EBD. It seemed pretty good "without" it at Silvy last year
That far back and that far down on pace I don't see any amount of tyres helping when they all have to use both compounds, seems to be a little clutching at ferrari straws here.banibhusan wrote:Race prospects seem to be good for Alonso. That is true, but F10 showed good pace from the start of the season.Redragon wrote:Ok,
First, I think it is a bit early to ditch Ferrari. F10 was nearly a winner and that it was two years ago and not on Shumacher era.
I think we have to measure ourselves relative to the competition, and the best case scenario today would have seen us 7th and 16th. Still pretty poor and worse than last years 5th and 8th.Second, this is qualifying, if Alonso would't have span with used tyres he would probably have been on Q3 and manage high 1.25's . Around 1s or bit less of Pole position. It is not ideal but it is not as bad as last year.
With such an unbalanced car we will suffer from high degradation.Third, tomorrow is the race and as we know from last year degradation plays a great factor as does the race pace.
We saw last year that it worked for some drivers to miss Q3 to use fresh tyres and this year all teams are suffering for the high degradation as all are commenting on interviews.

So what it is important is to win the races and the championship at the end of the year. So until Spain grand prix I am not alarmed yet about Ferrari. Everything can happen on the next three races.
Totally agree! Wich team started the year in Q2 and won the titles? This year it's over and F2012 it's a big failure.Gerhard Berger wrote: You have to hit the ground running to win the championship. Recent history will tell you that. I wish i had your optimism, but there is no coming back from this. Miracles don't happen in F1. We just have to learn from this experience to make sure it never happens again.

Last I checked, Lewis Hamilton was 2008 world championTim.Wright wrote:Ferrari in 2008 with Kimi.Afterburner wrote: Wich team started the year in Q2 and won the titles? This year it's over and F2012 it's a big failure.
I said "team", not driver, Massa qualified 4th in that year...Tim.Wright wrote:Ferrari in 2008 with Kimi.Afterburner wrote: Wich team started the year in Q2 and won the titles? This year it's over and F2012 it's a big failure.
