No. There is no science demonstrating an improvement.thearmofbarlow wrote:Would there be any benefit to channeling a significant amount of air into the driver compartment?
It's a wonderful conspiracy theory but the clarification from the FIA didn't stop Red Bull from blowing the diffuser, only from blowing off throttle. So yeah that would cause some instability but it shouldn't make it worse than any of the other cars and on corner exit the Red Bulls would be as planted as ever.capriking wrote:Could the things have gone this way?

1) Did both cars use the same exhaust tip layout Sat?
2) Which layout is the above modification associated with?
3) Why is this change anymore indicative of side-pod air flow or exhaust flow usage?

And that little tidbit has what to do with the RB8 and what they're trying to do with their exhaust?Owen.C93 wrote:Teams used different shaped floors well before they blew it with an exhaust.Crucial_Xtreme wrote:New floor. Any more questions where the exhaust is going? Don't believe so.

Because it doesn't mean that it's a "fact" that they are blowing the diffuser. I'm not saying that they aren't, but changing the floor is in no way absolute proof that they are blowing it.Crucial_Xtreme wrote:And that little tidbit has what to do with the RB8 and what they're trying to do with their exhaust?Owen.C93 wrote:Teams used different shaped floors well before they blew it with an exhaust.Crucial_Xtreme wrote:New floor. Well it's a fact they are getting the exhaust to the floor. What's not fact is where it's going or where they want it to go. And while yes teams have always changed/added new parts to the floor when they weren't blowing the floor, I'd say it's a little more than mere coincidence they've brought a tweaked version of the exhaust outlet, the bridge and toying with the floor around the rear tyre for common lateral airflow. But this is of course just my opinion.Owen.C93 wrote: Because it doesn't mean that it's a "fact" that they are blowing the diffuser. i suspect that air going into the driver compartment is neutral-ish, but the air being removed from the step on the nose lowers drag. i think its exit in the driver compartment is just the most convenient place.thearmofbarlow wrote:Would there be any benefit to channeling a significant amount of air into the driver compartment?
Vettel had KERS otherwise Renault would have apologized to him too:AdrianoZed wrote:Guys yesterdays Webber did a short interview with ch ONE, he said he was happy with his drive in qualy and thats the best he could have done without KERS.
If thats true that means they are not far off Mclaren when they do get KERS sorted.
And its only been mentioned that Webber didnt have kers, and vettel with kers did similar lap times?!
(Renault) CYRIL DUMONT: “First of all we’re pleased to be back on track, but of course we would have preferred to be in a higher position for tomorrow. Apologies to Mark who suffered from a KERS issue during qualifying; he could have been P2 or P3, so it’s a big shame. For Seb we were not able to be in a better position, maybe he suffered from the lack of running this morning. It’s the first race tomorrow and many things can happen – so we’ll see what we can do.”
