Well that was then and now is now. The rules are clear and we have a bunch of technologies that were not available in the past. The drivers even get a blue light in the cockpit when they are required to make place for the leaders. Hence the rules have been adapted to the changing situation. You have to consider that many championships hinged on one or two points and that drivers have enough obstacles with the rain, the tyres and technical failures. Twelve Points is a big hit too loose. They do not need their lives to be made more difficult by unnecessary obstacles. And nobody wants a championship in the end decided by a back marker to be lapped not getting out of the way.myurr wrote:There was a time when the back markers didn't have to get out of the way of the leaders at all and making your way through the field was considered a skill that the top F1 drivers needed to have.
This is the most overlooked aspect of this race IMO.Shrieker wrote:Fantastic showing by Senna today. He was dead last at 23rd when the race was stopped. He carved through the field to finish 6th, brilliant.
Sorry, mistyped. Was thinking of the eight engines they're allocated for each year and how they should have eight gearboxes to match.raymondu999 wrote:Eight? Is it not five?myurr wrote:Currently the gearbox has to last eight races, however I'd like to see them use an allocation system similar to that used for engines.
The measure of a man can never be concluded from a single event.NathanOlder wrote:I think after todays showing, Its clear to see Vettel is not Schumacher quality. Well, maybe he's a ralf, not a Michael.
We had other problems in the car. We lost telemetry, so I had to read the fuel every lap when we crossed the start-finish line. So there were a lot of things to do inside the car to keep under control the KERS etc. I was the only one knowing the charge. Without telemetry it's quite difficult for them. I think it was quite demanding but very happy obviously.
This was a little suspicious, to say the least...chepoi wrote:F1 Malaysia 2012 - Vettel team radio's at the last lap

I noticed when he pitted after the puncture him leaving a black trail in the centre of the car, even when he exited the pits – I'm pretty sure he had an oil leak.fernandojs wrote:This was a little suspicious, to say the least...
