OK - so what happens if Alonso or Hamilton have their front wing alongside the rear wheel of Rosberg's car? Rosberg makes that move, the other driver doesn't go off track, Rosberg gets a puncture, the challenger loses his wing... whose fault is that?
well thats not what happened is it. thats another circumstance, and would depend on the speed of the car behind, relative to the car in front.
besides, thats why i said sidepods, rather than rear wheels, because if your front wheels are up to at least the sidepods, you can at least safely say 'yes, he was alongside' give or take.
i think in your scenario, its even more the fault of the offensive driver rather than the defender. that would just be a clumsy move....
the overtaking driver has to have the awareness and ability to back out of it if its looking likely that the move isnt available.
it was certainly close with hamilton, but with alonso there isnt even anything to discuss. as i say, posting images of both incidents on here at the point which rosberg started to sweep right, will resolve this. no point really discussing it further without some images to look at.
