I still am scratching my head over Maldonado's lap...he annihilated Hamilton's time which I was not expecting from anyone out there.

Hamilton was allegedly on used tyres, I'd expect Maldonado was on new. So that probably explains the gap, but still was a stonking lap!

Edit: track will still be rubbering in as well.

Good point...but he knocked 2.2 seconds off his time from Q1 which was unreal.

An now the egg-shell tyres has completely ruined qualifying.

As Brundle just said: "We're not getting points for qualifying, but maybe we should"

They need to have tires only used for qualifying...would be so much better if these guys could just drive flat out without worrying about tire wear for the race.

Interesting, Maldonado has a laser ride height monitor on the car, you could see the red dot on the ground as he pulled out of the garage. I thought they only tended to use those in testing?

Eh oh, Hamilton's stopped on track. Hope it's just short of fuel so they told him to stop rather than there being a problem. He really deserves a clear weekend rather than being let down by the team / car again.
