Monaco Suzuka and SPA are proper driver tracks.
You don't need a "good car" per se. A good car is made up of a lot of things including high downforce; mechanic grip is key around this circuit.
Oh you still do.

You will never see someone win in a HRT or Marussia for example. Not even if you had Senna in the car.
Sure you might say wait a minute, Senna won in the Toleman.. (yes i know but Senna really won that one)
It´s not the same as today, driver´s can´t make that much of a difference as they could back then.

So you absolutely 100% need a good car. If you have a bad car you won´t go anywhere, you might put it slightly higher then what another person would but you won´t win races or take poles with it.
Uhh.. check your definition of a "good car".

A "good car" around Monaco is one with exceptional mechanical grip and setup with the Pirelli's.

Downforce isn't a great dominator, Monaco is a low DF track.

Wrong. Monaco is a high downforce track. Monza is a low downforce track. And DF is a large part of what the car needs at Monaco. High DF & good mechanical grip.

no they don't - they do the complete opposite. They give the driver even less influence.
5 degrees of track temperature either way and it throws the teams setup of the car right out the window. Its a variable which none of the teams can barely account for, and its entirely random (i.e. the weather).

both mark hughes and james allen wrote in their columns about the race, and both pinned down the fluctuating performances of the teams right to track temperature.

http://www1.skysports.com/formula-1/new ... s-in-Spain

He sums up at the end with this 'The sustained aggression and relentlessness, maintaining flat-out on-the-limit driving for lap after lap, a skill that so few can master, is currently an obsolete requirement.'

but if you like your racing to be about a tyre economy test, then i guess you'll be loving this 2012 season.

True. To be fair, I think what zyphro means is aero is secondary. If you could only choose between good aero & bad mechanical or good mechanical & bad aero, in Monaco you'd choose better traction to better aero any day. Of course, if you could have high downforce too that's even better

I see your point, but I think Zyphro is confused and is maybe mixing up Monaco & Monza. Back to your point, I would rather have mediocre mechanical grip and high DF versus superb mechanical grip and low downforce. :D

Regardless I totally see your point, I just think he has the two tracks mixed up.

A car with exceptional grip is not a good car. That´s a GREAT car.
I´ll just pretend i did not read the last bit.

Like most people in those games, he's focussed on top speed, full trottle on the straights... off course you won't get round if you only think about that.

Try not to crash at the beginning and try go round faster and faster, not with getting earlier on the trottle, but with higher corner speeds etc.
