Ferrari F2012

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

With the new Exhaust, what concept will they go with, revised "Spud Cannon" exhaust.

Revised Acer Duct Exhaust...yuck

Or could they be going into the realm of the Barcelona spec exhaust that Lotus had? (deep inset of rear sidepod).

Ferrari's current exhaust, i think is on the maximum allowable outboard limit, but if they change this and put them inward to blow the beam wing then i believe they have to reposition them. ................ Right click> View Image

whats so special there?
the ferrari guy is obviously taking the pressures when the pirelli tech is looking for temps ...but only of them seems to take notes ...the documentation is just a pirelli thing?

...

I'm going with the idea of revised/changed side pods for Gilles Villeneuve (possibly a chassis update?).

New turning veins, RW, FW and possibly adaptations of the Rear diffuser (small tweaks with under mounter veins).

Posts related to Monaco move to that thread. If it's not technical it will probably be moved out accordingly. Development facts or bust. :)

Hi guys, after a long period of lurking, i finally decidec to actively contribute on this fantastic forum! :D
I'm an 22 years old Italian boy, and obviously a big Ferrari tifosi!

As my first contribute, I post two footage of the new F2012's rear brake ducts, taken from my Barcelona GP recording.
Unfortunately, this is the best I could find, bacause, I know that there aren't many images of the rear brake ducts.

(Right click on the images to view them in full dimensions)

I hope it will be useful anyway.

<snip>

AutoSprint is reporting that Ferrari will change the internal fluid dynamics of the F2012 in one of it's future updates. Probably not in Monaco as it's not needed as much as others so it'll probably be Canada or Valencia. Considering they're changing the radiators I would assume they're changing the position of them from 90° to the more conventional more horizontal position.

yes but internal fluid dynamics does not mean that they will change they radiator layout..the might change it..they might not.. i think it has to do with where the hot radiator gases are routed to...and probably make it easier for the gases to flow to gain some top speed...

Yes I'm aware of that mate but they specifically mention modifying radiators & outlet to reduce drag & help top speed which they imply will also come with change of position.

Edit: They also mention modifications to the suspension for Monaco to help with turning radius, etc

oh ok mate! i thought they didn't mention change in radiator layout...

suspension changes for monaco are expected..they do that every year

Of course, I just threw in that extra bit to get X going...

They imply it, but AutoSprint hasn't been spot on with it's Ferrari info this year so I say take it with a grain of salt. Although I think it's obvious Ferrari change the internal fluid dynamics, so maybe they decided to focus on that so they could be right at least once this year.
