The hell I can't. That's the whole point here.
So how would a more durable tyre give us better racing here?
You'd have drivers trying to get after each other. There are other issues in the sport like there being poor parity in the field, but crap tires should not be a crutch for it.

This is the same as in other racing series. You have the best shot of making up positions on fresh tires. Once they go away everyone just rolls around at equivalent lap times and is just trying to hold on and not wreck. You NEED to have some tires under you to be able to attack. Otherwise it's everyone defending.
Grip is a four letter word. All opinions are my own and not those of current or previous employers.

The two are not equivalent. A closely fought season does not automatically equate to good racing?

Surely Vettel shows that the durability is there if the teams want it, they've just chosen a different strategy.

Its not about making better racing. I do not care.
You can make 'better racing' by throwing all kinds of artificial gimmicks into it. Every race someone in the top 5 has to do an extra pitstop, but gets given a set of special fast tyres. now THAT would spice up the racing.

all i care about is watching , supposedly the best drivers in the world, showing off their ability to the fullest. They got to F1 from being FAST, first and foremost, FAST.
The objective of racing is to be....the fastest person. That is its primary function as a sport.

the tyres have now taken that core function from the sport. The driver now has even less influence than hes ever had in the past.
At least in the past he could still drive to his max level, no matter what the rules were.

im quite happy with a procession, if i know that the driver is pushing to the limits, because that in itself is interesting.

They need to establish a rule in Q3, if you don't go out just so you can save tires and choose strategy, you're demoted to last place!
right and i think it's not fair

Qualifying is once again being shown to be a joke.

Being the fastest driver is also once again being shown to be basically a useless skill in F1.

If you believe that, I suggest a different hobby.

But with durable tyres you end up with a procession as qualifying is sorting the cars into speed order. If you have tyres under you to be able to attack then you have tyres under you to just pull away or defend. The drivers are able to one stop this race, how much more durable do you want the tyres to be? 29 laps on the super softs, 47 odd I think on the softs. What tyre life would you like to see?

Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

So why is 2010 being a closely fought season better than 2012 being a closely fought season?
