Ferrari F2012

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Canada is a fairly cool race – probably just blocked up.

Looks nice, they still mange to add a cooling exit to it as well, albeit it's obviously not as efficient as it could be like that. No big sign of any downwash either so there can still be more to come from it. Lets see if they stick with it like FI or ditch it like Caterham.

Looks like maybe more has changed than just the exhaust.

Crucial, can you serve us up a picture or two of the car from, I dunno, whenever the engine cover featured the enlarged central exit, but not the Red Bull-esque one?

Looks like a cheap copy of Mclaren more similar to Force India.

But I am glad they are trying this solution. They should have done that long time ago.

On a serious note... why bother insulating the back of the seat? Heat from the fuel cell or prevent heat from the drivers body into the cell?

Well, I certainly don't think the driver's 98.6 or so matters much in the grand scheme of things.

In this picture there is a very intresting detail in the zon of the diffuser footplate. There is a separate leading edge for the footplate (just outside the 95 cm zone) and maybe a strut connecting to it (but that could be a trick of perspective).

Any opinions?
I thought I knew what you were talking about but the strut part threw me off. :?:

Heat from the back of the car – remember, last year, when HRT's seat cracked, they ended up with a driver with 3rd degree burns.

I thank you.

It looks the same. The "new" one just looks awfully slim at the back, but I can see now that such has always been a feature of this particular engine cover.

EDIT: Is it just me, or do these pictures appear to have a bit of an editorial slant to their composition?
