Nick you are completely wrong. We do use CFD just because the data did not match yours does not mean what we are doing is wrong. The fact you continue to bad month our website over and over is very upsetting so please stop.

The most annoying thing I have noticed is you are saying things about people's designs and Formula Sketch when you have no idea what Formula Sketch is or the background of this banter.

tell me what program you use, and your conditons? and how you are running it? if you are really using CFD?,,, Dont reply saying we do not tell people due to unfair advantage.... what is the program? what are the conditions? and tell me how you manage to run CFD on every car every race weekend without a very powerful computer (which you informed me you do not have), considering if I want to do a full analysis, I have to wait a full few days (and that is with a powerful computer)

EDIT:
I am not bad mouthing with that post, I am just stating none of us know how the cars work without CFD (which is why I started using it), we can merely guess, and I know from pure logic you cannot be using CFD due to the reasons above.

You design your own F1 car using any form of 3D CAD (we advise Google Sketchup). You then design a livery, pick drivers and are given sponsors depending on your team status. These are used for our media sites such as videos which can be found on our YouTube channel. Driver's talent is taken into consideration as well as the mechanical performance. You then submit your car to us via the 'Paddock’ of a Thursday we then run a custom made CFD plugin on Google Sketchup and openfoam of the cars not using Sketchup with a custom conversation tool made by one of our staff (the conversation tool will NEVER be realised to public BUT plugin will be to all 2013 FS teams. ) From the data we get as well as data values for drivers we then run 4 1 hour simulates (this is down to computer crashes etc) the results are then exported and matched up with the database values with names, teams and times etc. Weather is a factor. For 2013 we will be running a live driver tracker but that will be explained in more death at a later depth. I hope this has helped your understanding and I will be happy to answer any questions ANYONE has.

Then maybe you could add a forum on your own site?

There are many posters on here that do design and build real race cars or other things. Its pretty easy to see right through your site. You are claiming you use CFD I have yet to see any of these models that would be good enough to run a real sim on. I highly doubt you have the computing power to run a full car once a season let alone a full field of them once a week. We get its a fun game but its foolish to pretend its anything more.

Monster Energy I didn't mean to make light of your work I know exactly how much time a project like this can take. You also are generally combative when some one posts something critical of your work this will make people stop relying to your thread. Try rereading some of your earlier post in this thread to see why people have stopped replying.

MX touched on my original point this is F1 Technical not F1Sketch you can't really expect an entire site to care about something that is off topic to the discussion at hand.

Well we are adding one to our site.

Yes many of this sites great designers take part in our championship, CFD does not require a hugely powered pc for small projects, huge ones like real F1 properly.

And this is not of topic at all! We are taking about what this thread is for, a Formula Sketch CAD car.

I can tell you the simulations on my car on a 4 core computer with 16gb of ram takes 2-3 full days of running, so it does take a lot of power on a pc (even on sketchup models), aside from that you still haven't named the program your using, also how big is the mesh your using on these cars if you really are using CFD? saying it doesnt require a powerful pc is rubbish, anyways back to this topic, which is Dom's car

Maybe if they show a picture of them using CFD on the car that will help? formulasketch you can use my car to present a picture of so you dont have to not do it by saying it is unfair towards the user. You can show one of my car, you have my full permission to do so

N12ck wrote:yes Flynfrog, you are right, but mine is done on a fairly powerful computer compared to a regular computer so I can get finer meshes, but the problem is with sketchup, it gets to a stage where you can make your mesh finer but it doesnt make any difference because of the fasitization on sketchup models themselves,

I have to say the thing I expect to happen are 1 of 2 things: photoshopped image, or he will download the program, find out how to export it from sketchup, start to run a simulation on it, after spending all day working out how to use it, printscreen a picture of it starting to run, and then claim he has ran CFD on it,
Nick, I would not do either of the things you have said, and the fact you are still interested in us after you have left, because you didn't like the way things where ran (didn't get your own way) is just funny. You say 'he' like this company is a one man team, shows how much you know. I have been called on here because of the way you have spoken and acted towards the response of my staff have given you today. The views you are publicly expressing on this forum are really not fair and unkind towards Formula Sketch’s team of people, who don’t only know how to use the software we provide but have a huge knowledge in their field of work, and the way you have undermined them really offends me deeply. You have already done whatever you can to make Formula Sketch look bad and you are failing, you left on good terms please don’t make me change my option on you because I really don’t want too. I would have sent this to you privately but the fact you are voicing your views in public meant I would also do the same so everyone gets to see my response to yours and other very unfair comments on my company and our amazing community of have highly talented designers.

don't worry, I am not interested in a guessed game,

the original post was someone saying something about dom's model, and saying about how we don't really know how they are being developed, I then said essentially no-one does without CFD, which this competition doesn't as you told us originally, and most people in it don't use it,

It is funny how you say this is not a 1 man team, and yet you tweeted this 2 weeks ago:
@BurnsGrandPrix No but it seems it has, but this is my last week and as it is only me in the admin I have a lot more work. Sorry
you reply that like someone has gone to get the guy in charge when it was you who posted before aswell,

as I said we will let the CFD or lack of it do the talking :D I look forward to these images,

for the benefit of everyone, this is what you said originally about how you do it all, now you backtrack on all of this,, hmmm

The sim program is one we have developed our selfs using ui from rfactor and f1 2011 and yes they are judged by aerodynamic experts we are looking into using CFD will talk about it tomorrow so tune in also we are just waiting on your car :)

Guys. Let's settle this.

Flynfrog may have had a point but he didn't explain it properly thus leading to me get offended. I'm cool with whatever the --- he and the rest of you think about me and my car designs. But if it's negative... keep it to yourself. Perhaps the moderators would do better to take off any un-constructive critism.

Nick, Formula Sketch: Me and you are cool Nick, and you are entitled to your own opinions on Formula Sketch. The underlying issue is that whenever you express that view, people get offended. So... best to keep that to yourself too.

Formula Sketch: This argument will be settled as soon as you show CFD images. If everything is there and correct then I think this would be settled. If not... :?

This thread is now full of pointless arguments. Would anyone like to see any particular images. Whole car is done; not suspension. :D

I agree to an extent, I wasn't actually saying anything against it until fsketch replied, because they continually change the story on how things are judged and you guys with these models deserve better than this, as I have shown the story has changed several times, and I now suspect he will be downloading Openfoam and installing it as we speak, google how to run it, will run it for the first and last time, and get a result and claim he has ran it all along, and then stop using it again for the next round, because a simulation does not take a few hours or 1 hour as he states, if it does, he must have an amazing computer which I have been told he does not have, anyways, yes I will be able to tell if he has ran the CFD properly, and if it has been set to the correct conditions when I see the images, lets have a top down image dom!

Dude if you want to get personal fine, I don't know who you get your information from but the computer part is wrong and of course our story on how we simulate the cars is changing because we are testing new software and ideas all the time that was the deal with join 2012 it was going to be a bumpy year, we have come a long way from having 2D cars drawn on MS paint back in 2009 to now. We have run with a very happy and amazing group of people for close to 5 years! Also you have no understanding of how CFD programs are ran I spent 16 hours in a call with a guy who is so talented he made his own CFD plugin just for us as we are moving forward all the time, which is what we will always do no matter what small minded people like yourself say on a forum. 'how things are judged and you guys with these models deserve better than this' you say this yet we do nothing but listen to the people in our community we cover all social networks, reply to all emails, answer any questions and run a weekly show just to update and get our community’s views, if that is not us trying to improve I don't know what is. I do kind of agree sometimes we have not been open with our teams on how things are ran but that is another change we are putting in place (check website) but people like yourself who when asked how we should improve just slag us of on a forum and don't look at what is perfect in FS only what needs to be worked on makes it even hard for us to grow.

right...

yes it is a game but i'm pretty sure its not guessed n12ck it makes you look silly having a rant about something you call a game yet you keep referring to Fsketch at the first opportunity i dont want to fall out with anybody and your all great but this is getting too heated and will end either way in A: another more heated argument B: a silly fallout or C: (unlikely) Fsketch having too much abuse and shutting down nothing good will come of this......you have been warned + i came to f1 technical to get away from pointless arguments so please stop!!

i dont mean to be mean or anything and i apologise if i offended anybody
